As I am coming up on my due date, I am starting to think about how long I want to stay at home with LO before applying for jobs. My gut says to start applying when LO is 2-3 months old, but my husband and I already have a trip planned when she will be closer to 6 months old. We've had this planned for over a year (no tickets yet though) based on DH's work schedule. Lots of family are planning to meet the baby at that time. So I'm also contemplating not applying until around that time. I'm still taking MA classes so it's not like I haven't been doing anything at all, but the longer I wait, the harder it is to explain away all this time of not working. I'd also like to put my classes to use!

I have been offered a couple of jobs, one of which said to call after the baby, and they might be more understanding because the job will be working with children, but still.. I feel like if I wait til the trip I could end up being unemployed for much longer than that...

Any advice?
