I interviewed for a position that would've given me a 60% raise. I knew someone at the company who kept me in the loop on details so I know that the search firm and employees recommended me, but ultimately the decision was the director's. I found out yesterday that he decided to disregard the search firm's suggestion (ME!) and hire another woman. Based on the inside information I received from my friend, he hired her based on his first impression of our physical appearances--it's a management position and I look young and sweet apparently--so he thought because she was older, taller, and more stocky, that she looked like a better manager even though I have better qualifications and experience. I can't make this stuff up.

On the same day I found out that my position at my current employer might be in jeopardy because our new president is bringing in his cronies and wants one of his friend's to handle some of my job responsibilities. My direct supervisor is trying to convince him that we need two people (me and this new hire) instead of axing me.

We were planning on moving and we've already hired a nanny--now the move may be up in the air because we want to save our money just in case.

I'm just venting because I'm super pissed and sad.
