So I am due the end of March, and my hubby's 30th bday is the beginning of March. I was toying with the idea of having a joint baby shower/surprise birthday party. What are your thoughts? I'm not one for cutesy games or having alot of attention placed on me. And would it be bad etiquette if I was the one who threw it?

I wouldn't do this. For one, its two completely different types of parties. Also, normally (at least from what i know) guys don't go to baby showers. And I think you DH should get a day of his own. Those get less and less as you have children
Plus, I don't think you should throw your own baby shower.

@Rosie Girl: We had a coed baby shower. It was very boy friendly, at a baseball stadium.
However, I also agree that it would be nice for him to have his own day for his birthday, and usually somebody else hosts your baby shower.

I dont like the idea of blending an adult birthday party with a baby shower. I think they should be kept separate.

I also don't like the idea of combining the two... they are two totally different events. I am pretty sure my husband wouldn't be too happy if I decided to combine his birthday with a baby shower.

We had a co-ed shower too. I think you should just celebrate separately. Enjoy the attention and gifts you'll be getting at your shower!

i agree with all the posts - have it separate. girls might not mind sharing with baby shower, but doubt guys would enjoy it. where's the beer? lol.
also, someone else should host the party, unless you have a gender reveal party instead....

Thanks everyone. I was on the fence about it but now I'll throw a seperate party for him. And we will most likely have a co-ed shower thrown by my sis and his sis, it's his baby too

@crash806: we're having a co-ed one too. but mostly because i don't have many people to invite so now, it's doubled haha.

@tequiero21: that's one of the reasons I'm thinking of a joint one as well, and the majority of the family is his as well.
Plus, I don't think you should throw your own baby shower.
