Well we had it narrowed down to 5, and my husband kept telling me just to pick.. so I sort of did but then he wasn't ready to commit. Now we have it narrowed down to three and we're calling her each for a week to see how it feels and if a winner presents itself.
But just because names are fun and so are polls…. vote on our baby name! Middle name will probably, but not definitely, be June.

I voted Penelope June. I think its cute.
I'm not sure I like Eva June. I like how Fiona June sounds but Fiona is NMS.

@T.H.O.U.: That's sort of why I said "not definitely June"… I like Fiona and Penelope with June but not so much with Eva. Not sure what we'd use with a middle name then. What is NMS? Oh wait… not my style?

@BakerBee: Oh God. lol. That's so funny because we're sort of anti-princess… but I can sort of see that now that you say it! Nevertheless, rest assured there will be no mini tiaras for our LO until she's at least old enough to develop an independent obsession and request it.

@Mae: I'm pretty sure that it's because of Princess Fiona in Shrek, so don't give too much credence to my thought.
My husband's grandmother's name was Olive June - I absolutely love June!

What about Fiona Mae? She'll be born in May....
PS My plan was to get pregnant with a girl due in June and have her middle name be June, ended up getting pregnant with a boy due in May -- so much for that!

@BakerBee: Aw, I love Olive! We had Olive/Olivia (shared a spot because we loved them both) on our top 8 list. Oh yes, there have been MANY lists..
@whodat: My husband hates the name Mae. Which is why it is my sn… I just wanted to use it somewhere since I can't use it for a baby! Also it is my grandma's middle name and she always hated it because she said as a middle name it makes her sound like a bumpkin. (Sort of like Billy Bob v. Bob Joseph). And I think I sort of agree… its a bit too country as a middle name for my tastes anyways

I love June (it's C's middle name!).
My vote goes for Eva. I have to say, I am so not on the Penelope bandwagon.
For the record, Olivia June would get my 100% vote. Beautiful.

Those are all my friends' baby's names from the past year. Love them all. I think Fiona goes best with June.

Rose. It was on my first draft list for my husband, but he nixed it due to an annoying woman at work named Rose. Also nixed Julia for the same reason. Sigh @ name associations… haha
@looch: funny you should say that, Penelope was the way I was leaning and I was telling my husband how I thought it was really cool that it would sort of honor both sides of our family (although that was not set as a priority for us) because June is a family name for him and PJ are my mom's initials. My husband then specifically asked we not call her PJ… haha. I don't think either of us are big initial fans, but I love all the nickname options! Penny, Poppy, Pippa, Nellie, Ellie, etc… we'd call her Penny but I like that I don't hate any of the nicknames.
@loveisstrange: I didn't even know there was a bandwagon until HB! I don't know anyone IRL with the name or who has named their kid that… although my bff tells me it isn't her favorite name due to one of the Kardashians apparently naming her kid that? lol. Oh well. No name is perfect and I don't think I'll hold a Kardashian against it…

@Mae: Hahaha, yeah, I dont follow the Kardashians, so I have no idea. rofl. Just pick the name you guys love. Really, there's no rush to decide. We got down to a top 3, and then waited until she was born to decide. I am 100% confident we picked the right name.

@anandam: lol! It was so funny. For a week my husband had been telling me to just pick already. He came home Friday and I told him I was pretty set on Penelope June and he was like "Huh." So I brought it up Saturday and he said he's just not quite ready to commit and he wants to live with the top 3 a bit longer. Apparently he'd been calling her Eva all week last week, and we called her that all weekend. This week we're calling her Penelope. Next week we'll call her Fiona. And then we'll see how we both feel after getting used to all three.
@loveisstrange: I wish I could be that patient but I'm just not. I'm so anxious to make a decision and call her something real other than just calling her baby all the time! lol

@Mae: Haha, that is funny! But you do realize you have less control when they go to school? One day she can come home and you might find out the kids call her PJ because she asked them too!
You just never know, so pick the name that you think suits her when you see her! That's my most important advice.

@Mae: I like the method. It'll be interesting to notice if you have subtle little feelings from one week to the next, like looking forward to the next name versus feeling like you're giving something up by switching... It's a tough decision, definitely! Whenever we talk about it I get frustrated and just start naming random things in the room - "maybe we should call the kid shampoo bottle? Or coffee mug?" DH does not find this amusing! Haha.

@looch: True. I'm just glad that Penelope has so MANY nickname options and none of them really annoy me. I don't love PJ but it seems sort of unlikely she'll go by that anyways with all the other options out there. This is sort of my hangup with Fiona. I love it, but I hate the nicknames (Fi, Fifi, Nona, Noni, etc). And it makes me really hesitate to use it because the chance of her going by SOME nickname seem pretty high.
@anandam: lol before we were really talking about it my husband liked to tease me with random names. Like Buck and Trixie. I protested heavily, then sort of bit my tongue later because I realized I did like Beatrix and trixie is sort of adorable when derived from that… haha. Regardless I didn't put it on the list because of my initial "omg stripper name" reaction which I fear others would have too if they hadn't come around to the cuteness. Coffee mug though… could be the next hit name!

@Mae: Well, if it makes you feel any better, my son has a 3 syllable first name that could easily be cut short but no one calls him a nickname yet. He even calls himself the full three syllables, so it's clear what his preference is (he's 3).
