Whenever DH and I take our little family out shopping, we normally put DD in a stroller and let DS sit in the seat in the cart. This has been working just fine except I suspect that DS gets bored. I have a few toys that attach to the cart for his amusement but because I bring them every time, he's grown tired of them. Does anyone have any suggestions on toys to take while shopping for an active, curious 15 month old toddler?

Same. Snacks. I usually save the good stuff for trips like this. And usually the stuff that takes a while to eat, like dried fruit. I'll give him some dried banana or dried apricots and it keeps him busy forever!

Snacks, or let him play with something that you're buying. LO can entertain herself for quite a while with a bag of shredded cheese!

I let him help me, but only if he's listening. He's really good about getting what I need from the aisles. If he's good, he gets a balloon!

I've been letting DS, who is 14 months old, put the groceries in the cart, and this helps keep him occupied. Heck, it even helps keep my three year old occupied!

Snacks and a drink. If I give him toys, then he just makes a game out of dropping it over and over and over again. When we are grocery shopping he loves to gnaw on an apple or orange (yes, he bites and chews on the rind!).

I just tried out one of those carts with the toy car on the front cor the first time a couple Weeks ago and DS (13 months) loved it! If your grocery store has any of those carts, you should try it out!

A little baggie of cheerios or mum mums....I always let my LO hold something small that I'm buying too.

I used to let dd have a piece of fruit or a snack.

I let her play with things from the store and then just put them back when she's done with it.

I give LO something that we're buying to play with. It keeps her occupied. He's also busy people watching and flirting most of the time.

@artbee: that's what i used to do, too! the dollar spot at target was great for finding a quick book or toy to play with and then putting it back before we checked out.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: @Mrs. High Heels: Glad you guys chimed in.... I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who does that and I was going something wrong!
I will also give her things we're buying to hold onto, and when she's done with it she likes to put it in the back of the cart. Obviously as long as they're baby safe I'll do that.
