My parents didn't, but I kiss DS on the lips all the time. I don't allow anyone else to though.

@swurlygurl: the way you deacribed it made me think of the SNL skit!!!
Chloe will kiss me on the mouth but not often. It's always a quick peck which she calls a smooch. No one else kisses her on the lips.

I love my daughter's mouth kisses, they're so sweet
She wakes me up that way in a morning. But I wouldn't mouth kiss the rest of my family or DH's. His are all into the Spanish kiss on each cheek, which I like, because you fully know what to expect and there's no awkward "should I kiss them? Shake hands?" Etc.

DH's family and my family are both huggers only. I kiss LO on the mouth (too irresistible!), but will stop when she's older.

I will if she goes in for one and I'm healthy! I tried to offer her my cheek and she kept trying for my mouth. lol. but I don't like anyone else to. and I won't as she gets older - I didn't grow up in a family that kissed on the mouth (adults -> kids)

Love it. Tonight I kissed DD good night and she said "I will keep this kiss forever". Hello, I die!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
I love it! My mom STILL kisses me on the mouth to this day.
@Andrea: I would die too! That is so cute!!
nectarine / 2079 posts
I didn't think I would, but the first time LO kissed me on the lips it was so sweet so now I love when she gives me kisses on the lips. I usually kiss her cheek or forehead if I'm kissing her, but it is the lips if she kisses me.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
Yep. We still kiss our 3yo DD on the lips. And our DS too!

Mouth kissing anyone but DH totally weirds me out! I didnt grow up in a family of kissers, but in DH's family it is the norm. It makes me feel really awkward. I nearly died the first time his dad kissed me goodbye on the mouth.
Also, I'm a germaphobe so I really don't want to mouth kiss anyone.

We don't kiss on the lips but I sniff her baby's breath all the time. She kisses us on the cheeks and makes sound effects too, it sounds like " a muahhh a muahhhhh". Love it!

I love to mouth kiss LO. Delicious!
I still mouth kiss my mom and dad too.

I definitely do not kiss my LO on the lips. The only person I kiss on the lips is my husband. But I didn't grow up with it and I've always found it to be weird. (No offense to the majority of posters, obviously, everybody does what they feel comfortable with)
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Of course! I kinda can't believe people think this is weird but to each their own! It's just a peck - not anything like a romantic kiss. We're a family of lip kissers! Honestly getting kisses from LO on the lips is like, the best part of my day.
persimmon / 1233 posts
Yes! He's started saying "more kisses! more kisses!" Who could refuse that?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@sotofamilia: I'm with you!
Mouth kisses are reserved for romantic kisses only. I find it totally bizarre that people do this with children/parents/siblings/etc! It's just not something my family ever did and I won't do it either.
pomelo / 5258 posts
I did not want to do mouth kisses but DH started it with LO before I registered my opinion. While I enjoyed some kisses I hate wondering who else she's kissing when I'm not around. I'm relieved that daycare is shutting it down and teaching "thumb kisses" instead.

@Andrea: I would be a big puddle on the floor if DD said that to me! So sweet!
DD1 is just starting to give us kisses on the mouth (she's nearly 2) which we LOVE! I grew up in a family where we kissed on the mouth, until a certain age, can't remember when exactly, and I want to do the same with my kids. I also love kissing DD2's little mouth - so sweet!

Pretty much my entire family except for me does mouth kisses, I just can't give them a non-romantic association in my head. My grandma still acts surprised sometimes when I re-angle myself to give her my cheek or forehead, but I'm not sure why since I've been doing that since about age 5! And it hasn't changed since having kids; mouth kissing is still only for my DH.

@Andrea: So sweet!!!
I always assumed family mouth kissing was the norm until a few months ago when someone on here mentioned that they didn't do this with their family! I grew up in a mouth kissing family (still kiss my mom like that) and we will kiss LO on the lips, too. I've already done it a few times, but I am a bit nervous about getting her sick so I try to limit it for now

@sorrycharlie: @Mrs. High Heels: @Kimberlybee: @sunny: @Ree723: @fussygal: I did race to write in my Mom's One Line a Day book as soon as I put her down. I haven't written an entry in forever, but I knew I had to put that one in there!

I imagine I will. I kiss my nieces on the mouth now... But they are still little. I imagine when they get older we won't.
My family all kisses on the cheek, and DHs family is hit or miss m

I never really grew up in an outwardly affectionate family and I didn't think I would but I do with my LO and I love it. Kisses are what you both assign to it - it doesn't have to mean romantic kisses. It just means I love you to my LO and I love it. I imagine it will stop once he's older but for now I am taking it as much as I can.
grapefruit / 4923 posts
i grew up in a family that did mouth kisses, and i do it with LO. i love it. he's so cute when he gives a kiss (which is rare). i don't think my husband is that comfortable with it though--haven't seen him kiss LO on the lips.

No, kissing on the mouth to me is reserved for my husband. My parents never kissed me on the mouth.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Our parents never did, so I'm not sure if we will or not. But then again, I kiss my dog on the mouth....
grapefruit / 4136 posts
Neither if us grew up with mouth kisses but we kiss J on the mouth. I love his slobbery smoochies!
apricot / 495 posts
I did and I probably will in the future but right now D is turning his kisses into nibbles so cheek kisses are safer!
cantaloupe / 6800 posts
No. We're not mouth kissers. I'm not going to freak out if LO kisses me on the mouth when he's bigger but that isn't where I go to kiss him!
My aunts/cousins are mouth kissers and it honestly disgusts me. My cousin is 32. Do not kiss me on the mouth, kthx. I told my parents not to kiss LO on the mouth because it gives me the heebs lol

I kiss my kids on the mouth. I insist on it. They were inside my uterus and came out of my vagina... I will kiss them on the mouth until the day they ask me to stop.
ETA: I grew up kissing my parents on the mouth but stopped probably around puberty?
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
I grew up in a non-display of affection family, but I hug my friends all the time! I only kiss DS on the cheek, forehead, belly, etc., but not on the lips. However, when I ask DS for a kiss, there's a chance he'll plant one on my lips. His kisses are rare right now, so I'll take it if it's on the lips!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
I don't, mostly because I don't want him doing it to anyone else.
