I'm having a hard time finding clear information on this. We have a Britax Marathon and DS is 42 lbs. What's the rule with using LATCH?

@SeptMomma12: The weight of the seat and child should not exceed 65lbs. You need to look in your owner's manual to find out what the seat weighs.
ETA: That's just for the lower anchors. You should continue using the top tether with a seatbelt install.

My understanding is 40lbs for the LATCH. That's what we were told at a carseat installation. We recently started using the seatbelt with our 3 yo in his Britax.

It's dependent on the car. You need to look in your car's manual to find the total weight limit and look in your car seat's owner manual to find the weight of the car seat.

@SeptMomma12: I just looked on the carseatblog.com for my seat and she tells exactly when to switch from LATCH to the seatbelt
