Is there a soap you use for diapers & all the rest of the house hold wash. One of my friends has found that tide works well for her family but won't I need fancy stuff for the babies once they come. Something less harsh? I'm trying to avoid buying 3 different detergents.

I haven't started yet, but I have just the Tide original (I think it's called Tide Ultra now...) stashed up that I'm planning to use on everything--cloth diapers included. From what I've read, it's supposed to actually work great, though, as I'm sure you know, in the cloth diaper world, everyone seems to have a differing opinion and there's sadly no "right" answer!!

We use Tide Ultra, too! We buy it at Sam's Club and wash EVERYTHING in it. The first couple of months, we used Free and Clear for E's clothes, though. Now we don't bother

We use Rockin Green for diapers and All Free and Clear from Costco for everything else (baby and household).

I use Charlie's Soap Laundry Powder for all of E's clothes and diapers and Costco brand detergent for me and DH.

Thanks ladies! I'm spending the week at my moms & we have all the diapers & baby clothes at her house so we can start washing them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Tide will be a simple solution. Right now we use Era. Has anyone used this with CD/baby clothes?

Has almost every detergent on the market, with a grade for brighteners, enzymes, etc... the things you have to look out for depending on your diaper brand's warranty/recommendations.

Our whole family use Tide Free and Gentle, it works well for us.

We use tide (the original) powder for all our clothes and cloth diapers. For a full load of diapers I fill it to the smallest line. Works great for us. Good luck!

We use All free and clear for everyones clothes. Its a great price and has worked great at getting stains out the past year and a half.

I'm using Ecos F&C for diapers and All F&C for very thing else. Maybe once we run out of All I'll use just Ecos. But no Tide for us, I'm allergic to it.

We currently use Country Save powder for all of our laundry, diapers included.
If you are going to cloth diaper from the start, I would highly recommend finding one detergent that will work for everything. With twins, you are probably going to have a lot of people coming to help, and starting a load of laundry is an easy thing that a lot of people did for us. I wouldn't want to risk messing up my diapers bc a friend unknowingly used the wrong detergent.

Not only does it work great with cloth diapers, it's cheap. I get a year's supply (and then some) thru Amazon Subscribe & Save. It's nice to never, ever run out of detergent.

We use Ecos Free and Clear for everything. Sometimes I buy the scented version and use it on linens but mostly I just use the unscented on everything.

@ms.janedoe: sorry for the delay! A full load for me is ~12-14 pockets, the inserts (2 per diaper), a cover or two and a couple prefolds. Oh and cloth wipes.

I bought fragrance free ecos to use on all of our baby stuff (clothes and dipes) and I use homemade detergent on mommy/daddy stuff.
