Hmm, I can't decide what to do....!

One of the main reasons I don't want to go back to work is that I am so, so bored with my job. The thought of going back and sitting in meetings with my boring boss talking about all the same old stuff just fills me with dread - trying to feign interest used to exhaust me then, never mind now that I am actually exhausted!

But it is so, so cushy. Like, I can go in when I like, I can go home when I like, nobody cares how many hours I put in as long as the work is done (and I can do a weeks' work in two days if I get my head down), I can work from home as often as I like, my boss has two young children so he understands parenting demands completely and it's all so, so family friendly......

...... but it is really, really hard for me to keep focused when the pressure is off like that..... and if I'm not really into what I'm doing I find it hard to get motivated at all.....

There is also lots of opportunity for career progression where I am - a point that DH makes constantly. He feels that I have good earning potential and, as I'm the main breadwinner (he would love to be he just isn't in the right field), he is is forever bugging me to apply for a more senior job at my current company...... but I did a more senior job a few years ago and I hated it, so I changed companies and took a step down. Uuugh..... DH's point is that, for the benefit of our family, I should put aside how I feel about the actual job and focus on earning as much money as possible.

Anyway, I've seen a job advertised that I might want to apply for, It's similar to the work I do now but in a totally different environment. But:

- It's 4k a year less (and we rely on my income)
- It will be less flexible
- I wont be able to work from home
- I don't know whether there will be career progression opportunities

On the plus side:

- It's in my city (I currently commute 100 miles each way two days a week and 25 miles each way the remaining 3).
- It has a subsidised, on-site nursery
- It's in a more interesting environment (working with students rather than social housing residents)

But, to be honest:

I'm not sure it will be *that* much more interesting (it's a pretty similar job - advice work) - just a change of scenery, really. But I do love a change of scenery!

What do you think?? What would you do?
