Someone suggested that I write a letter to my LO before he arrives. Tonight, I started writing my letter and it has actually been quite fun. Is anyone else planning to write a letter to their LO before he/she is born?

I didn't write a letter, but I did start a blog when we found out. And, I also keep a journal to her about the pregnancy. I thought it might be something fun for her to read one day when she's pregnant herself.

I didn't, but I did do more of a photo journal documenting my pregnancy, and I also included all the cards I got for her when I was pregnant.
A letter sounds fun though! There's a section in our baby book where my hubby and I had to write something for her. We did it after she was born when we were still in the hospital.

I wrote a series of letters to LO whilst I was pregnant and DH and I both wrote letters the day after LO was born. We actually need to write another one for the new year.
I found it to be a wonderful experience. I just wrote about what I was feeling, how scared/worried/excited/happy I was to be pregnant, how much I loved DH and my hopes and dreams for LO. I hope that we can write a letter each year and when LO is all grown up hand them over - maybe when LO is getting married. I liked the idea of something physical that we could give to LO that could be kept for the rest of LO's life.

@cupcakemama, how beautiful! I've had such a great experience writing this letter that I may continue to keep writing more letters like yourself. I agree, being able to give my LO, when he's bigger, something tangible will be nice.

My mom wrote a series of letters to me and I read them in high school. I loved that she did that which is why I'm hoping to turn my blog into a letter book of sorts... I'll definitely do hand written notes as I make time during pregnancy/maternity leave in the future!

I started a blog instead. The thing I'm most glad for are my weekly preggo pictures - I can't wait to show LO (when she's old enough to care) what I looked like when I was carrying her.

I have a journal of letters that I write to DS and unborn DD. I hope someday they read them and enjoy them!

I love this idea. I actually remember seeing a commercial (for computers.. or operating systems... or email?) that showed a father sending emails to an email account he set up for his daughter. It included photos, video and letters as she grew up and she'd be able to read them all one day. I loved it!

During my first pregnancy, I wrote a "Dear Baby" letter every day. After I miscarried, it hurt to look at them. For this pregnancy, I've written two so far, the day we found out and the day we saw the heartbeat. I'm feeling more confident about writing them now, although probably not as frequently as I had wanted to the first time.

yes, both the husband & I are going to write letters to the baby before he or she is born & put them in an envelope in the back of the baby book to be opened on his or her 18th birthday.

I read a great idea of writing a letter each year to the baby, keeping track of highlights, big accomplishments, and then saving them for when they are older. They recommended waiting for the 18th birthday, or even waiting until the child is about to be married. I told Hubs that I'd love to do something like that.

@Clementine: It was actually an amazing experience for both of us. I imagined a grown up LO getting the letters when old enough to appreciate/relate and getting a real insight into what his parents were thinking, going through etc.

I plan on writing a book for each of my children. On the day I find out I'm pregnant, I'll start writing down thoughts for them. All through pregnancy, and their childhood, whenever I have something to say. A collection of letters from different times in their life. I'll give them their books when they are adults, or maybe teenagers. We'll see.
