Are you doing this for the holidays?
I am going to have LO pick out the gift for the name she drew in her day care class. I also want her to pick out something to get Daddy for Christmas. But I need to figure out what to narrow it down to have her pick from, for both.

I'm going to have her pick an 'angel' from the tree, around her age, to shop for. I've asked for inputs for others (daddy/day care teacher) and she just picks toys she likes so think this is the best way to get her involved. Also, i'll help her make some crafts to wrap.

I let LO pick out a gift for his brother for Christmas and birthdays. He tries really hard to find the perfect gift. Really cute! Then there are other times when he decides to buy a Thomas the Train book for his aunt.

This is important to me, so I actually have my kids pick out gifts for each person in our immediate family. I want them to learn how to give (think about what the other person likes and pick something out that will give the other person pleasure). I'm amazed at how good my 5 yeAr old is at thinking of others and how much pride she takes in picking out gifts.
