What were your baby's first "phrases"? I can't remember my son's -- probably "more please."
I won't forget my daughter's... she just started saying "no quiero" (I don't want it/I don't want to).
WOMP WOMP.

it seems to be "Hi ---". She yelled, "Hi Papa!" at her swim lesson the other day when she saw him in the stands!

It was "up please". He started with just "up" but I required him to say "please" so it ended up sounding like "uppie".

His first was "wat dat" (what's that?). He did this a lot and would point to stuff. He now says "uh oh" all the time. I'm not sure if that counts as a 2 word phrase tho?

When did your LO put 2 phrases together? DS is almost 18 months, and "uh oh" is really the only one he puts together, and I'm not sure that counts. I keep trying to get him to say "Hi ___" or "Bye bye ____", but so far, no go.

@2PeasinaPod: My girl is 17 months today, but that is WAY earlier than my son. I can't remember but he was definitely closer to 2 when he started with phrases.
Like you, I am kind of confused about when things really constitute a phrase. I think my baby hears her brother say "no quiero" all the time so I don't think she necessarily came up with that idea on her own... maybe she thinks it's one word!

LO is 16 months and has just recently starting putting 2 or more words together. She says "bye bye car" "hi ----" "uh oh" "oh no" and "what dat" and she tries to say how or what are you doing- "what doin?" "how doin?"

@NovBaby1112: Awww so cute, reminds me of my son who asks at totally inappropriate moments "how was your day?" I think he thinks it's like "how are you?" or some other sweet thing to say to someone, not necessarily at the end of the day when one gets home.

"Ugh-oh, I pooped" was my LO's first strung together phrase!

I get. With her hands outstretched. It's so cute. It's how she asks for things.

@yoursilverlining: oh my gosh that one you will never forget. LOL…

My LO has been saying "whatisit?" for a while I'm sure that's just one word. This week she started saying "hi daddy" and "bye daddy." Now if she would just call me mama. (Boobs are mama to her)

my son always says "here you go" but it's all mashed together to sound like "hehyago". he says it if he wants picked up, if he wants to hand you something, or if we give him something.
and he says "uh oh" every time he drops something or if he's about to throw something. it's like a warning. haha.

Does "thank you" count? This was one of my son's first words right after mama and dada. Now they both say thank you and "uh-oh." (14 mo old).
