Since this is something I never even really considered, I need girl help! Did you have you LO wear head "things" like bows, headbands, etc? When did she start wearing them and what exactly did she wear? Where do I begin?!

She wore them right away. Headbands since she had hair but not enough for bows. If people were coming over, we were taking pictures, going out, etc she had one on. I would take it off for most of the day.

I loved little bows! Baby wisp had the best for babies without a lot of hairs

We love bows! She started wearing them from the start. We did the crochet headbands and alligator clip bows a lot, right from the start.

She wore them on headbands until she was about 5 months old. Now she pulls them off unless I can get it in the middle of her head without her knowing. She is almost 15 months old.

Well I planned on the head bands, bows and all but every time I put one on her she cries sooo I truly don't care..maybe we will try again as she gets older!

Yes. Headbands and bows from the beginning. Almost all of ours are from Etsy. My favorite shops are 3LoveliesBowtique, PaigesPrettyBowtique, Willow Crowns.

I never had her wear any in the beginning. I had an irrational fear that headbands would dent her head! instead she wore lots of cute beanies and then sun hats. Now that her hair is longer I love doing bow barrettes everyday! They keep her bangs out of her eyes!

You have seen my Instagram so you know about Darcys headband collection. I love them!!

@mrskc just started a shop to sell the headbands and bows she makes!
We used headbands a bit, and bows/clips once her hair was a little longer. Now we use barrettes or ponytail holders- but she doesn't keep them in well anymore.

I only did bows when her hair was in her eyes. Headbandss never worked because she had too much hair.
I really don't like the glue on bows.
We got most of our from etsy.

@lawbee11: I made my first purchase from willow crowns. Excited for it to arrive!

Never, until her hair got so long it was in her eyes all the time. We used to use clips to hold it back, but she won't keep them in now so we defaulted to the tiny rubber bands. They're a PITA to get in and out without hurting her, though. If it weren't for the fact that she collects food and snot and who knows what else on her hair when it's loose, I would almost never bother with hair things.

@BandDmommy: it is a separate website. I think they are in Canada actually but they make great bows. We have some and I loved them when she didn't have much hair.

@BandDmommy: Where do you buy yours? You ever start selling, come find me

I never had LO wear them as a baby bc I couldn't be bothered and now at 2.5 she won't have anything to do with them. So I think if you want to do bows/headbands, definitely get into the habit early.

Congrats on the baby girl! We just found out that we're having a girl yesterday So, my dad never let me wear headbands because he was convinced it would cut off the circulation to my brain. Any guesses what I bought yesterday as my first "girly" purchase? A beautiful gray and purple flower headband I can't imagine that we will fuss with something everyday, then again I don't do anything but put my hair in a ponytail every day, but it will be fun for special occasions, pictures, etc.

She wore them from the beginning! I just love little bows and got addicted to making them myself. She mostly just wears them for a picture or if we are out somewhere. I don't like to keep them on her for Long or while I'm not watching because she'll grab them and pull the bow down in her eyes.

Occasionally, but it never seemed worth the cost of fuss and eventually she just started pulling them out instantly.

I bought a ton for Chloe then never really wore them on her. Then she played with them as a toddler & they all fell apart, so I don't have any for Charlotte!
Anyway - I find them to be a complete PITA. I'd put a headband style bow in their hair for a special occasion but not every day use.

No. I don't appreciate junk in my hair, and my daughter doesn't either. If she ever asks for it, I'll get her some.

Always tiny bows and headbands. I like really simple small ones, so I just stocked up on barrettes and headbands in a variety of colors and we still use a lot of them now, months later. I got all cheap ones, and we lose them constantly.

My daughter hated the hospital hat that they put on her and has since never appreciated anything on her head. Also, she is 17months and still doesn't really have enough hair to hold and clips or bows.
I think you can wait until after baby is born or if you really want some only buy 1 or 2. Every little girl is different!

Stretchy headbands with flowers or bows, pretty much every day for two little girls. I loved making ours to match specific outfits. For my girls, starting with hair things when they were babies has made them more tolerant of it as they get older.

Noooo I haven't put any on her (except the photographer for her newborn pics did) and don't own any
I will when she has long enough hair that it needs to be pulled back

Congrats on your girl! We started with headbands right from the beginning. I never thought I would be a headband person but somehow I could not resist. We got them as gifts, and I bought some on Etsy & at Target, Carters, etc.
My daughter has LOTS of hair so by the time she was 3-4 months we could do bows on alligator clips. I got those mostly on Etsy as well.
Now at 14 months we do ponytails, pigtails, and all kinds of stuff! It's fun!

My LO never liked bows or head bands much, but had long hair that got in her eyes if I didn't pull it back. The solution for us was tiny elastics. Sometimes I put in a bow on top of an elastic, but I rarely use bows on their own. I never used headbands because she didn't like them.

Another plug for @mrskc: 's etsy shop! We have a few of hers and love them.
I would actually have DD wear bows/headbands more often (since I think they are so cute!) but since it is the middle of winter we are constantly going out with a hat on. Looking forward to the warm months again, and when she has even more hair for the clip on bows!

My LO wore headbands until she had enough hair to clip, then I started with clips so her hair didn't fall in her face. However she refuses any and all hair accessories now! Not sure why she hates them.

Paiges Pretty Bowtique on Etsy is my favorite, especially for the baby clips...My daughter had very little hair until she was like 1 and those little bows looked so cute!
I would give a link to the the ones we like the best for itty bitty babies (I think they're called itty bitty bows) but my DD does some modeling for PPB and I think that might be against rules here or something?

DD has worn headbands almost everyday since the day she was born. I bought them mostly on amazon. Since she has always wears them they don't bother her. If she does pull them off, she tries to put it back on.
pomegranate / 3595 posts
I seem to be in the minority here but we didn't worry about hair stuff for a long time because DD had basically no hair when she arrived and it took a long time to grow in. We eventually used clippy bows to keep her hair out of her eyes, but really didn't need them until she was over 1.

I always imagined elastic headbands were uncomfortable so I rarely put those on her when she was really small. I love plain grosgrain ribbon bows best but she does have a stash of seasonal shaped ribbon clips. Now that she's older (just about 2) I like hard headbands too. I've gotten bows and hair accessories at Janie and Jack and other kid's stores and on etsy and Amazon. She asks for a bow or headband every morning!
