Which are you and why?
DH and I are both in the "work to live" category. It's definitely caused some frustration for me since the field I work in is very much the opposite! I don't think I'll stay in this space forever though, so it works for now.

work to live. hands down. I am completely family motivated and not career motivated in the slightest.
my DH is a live to work type person though. He loves his career and would work even if he didn't have to.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I agree. I like where I am career wise and have no intentions to advance.
Want to be able to travel, shop, spend time doing things I love

Work to live. I do get fulfillment out of my profession and can't imagine not working, but am definitely motivated to get done with the day so I can get home. Working makes me appreciate my time off more!

My work is my life. But so is my family... it's tough to find a balance!

Work to live for sure... There would be very few careers in the world that I would love enough to say love to work.
DH is the same as I.
When I was in New York it was the first time I saw that there was even such a thing as the live to work mentality. That is practically nonexistent in the Midwest.

@rainbow sprinkles I just tried but couldn't! Good idea though!!
@Mrs. Pen Same here! We live in a small town but I work for a company in a big city and whenever I travel there for work I'm always amazed at how much people do for work on their free time!

Completely work to live these days.
Funny, because growing up I always wanted a high powered career. But ever since we decided we'd be starting a family at some point, my priorities have definitely shifted. I've even passed on several promotions in the past year, knowing full well that at my company, anyone above my current level is expected to be on call at all hours. The higher ups definitely do not support a work-life balance at my company!

Work to live. Work funds my hobbies, pays the bills, and allows us a good life. I think what I do is very interesting, at least! But I like to do my 40 and go home. Thankfully DH is not a workaholic

I work to live. If we didn't have bills to pay, I certainly wouldn't be getting up at 6am. My husband, on the other hand, lives to work. His career is also his hobby so he really enjoys it. Even if we won the lottery or something, he would still continue to work, just on his own terms.

Work to live. I've been encouraging DH to apply for a controler position that would be a jump up for him & give us the opportunity for me to be a stay at home wife/ maybe mom. He wants the job but is neevous to apply because he has no formal education. Selfishly I want to finish my degree in human services. Who knows.
