We're living with family right now while our house gets ready so a lot of people are calling me by my first name. Now LO, who barely says any words (just turned 1 yesterday!), calls me by my first name. I'm sure I can get her back to calling me 'mama' again but she hasn't said it in over a week!
Did anyone else's LO start calling them by their first name?

Haha. That's so cute. DH calls me "umma" (mom in Korean) so LO has only ever called me that.

My daughter calls her dad by his first name on occasion, but usually calls him "daddy". I don't think my daughter has any idea what my first name is. I've never heard her say it before.

Your LO is much younger, but when my brother was a toddler he went on vacation with my grandmother & aunts & starting referring to our parents by their first names. They didn't make a big deal out of it because it didn't bother them, but to this day (20 some odd yrs later) he still calls them by their first names. it's probably because my parents didn't stop him from doing it.
If it bothers you, maybe try to have other your family refer to you as mama when talking to LO. I'd also either ignore LO when she calls you by your first name (they like reactions, if you are laughing or saying mama mama mama every time she calls you by your first name it becomes a game) and only answer when she calls mama or with as little emotion as possible offer the correct name. She's still little, I'm sure she'll go back to calling you mama if you keep up with it now.

We tried telling the LO our names once but she didn't want to believe us. She said "No, your names are Mommy and Daddy".

LO calls us by out names when he calling to us from another room. I guess my husband and I say our names mostly in that situation as well.

haha because we are staying with family right now too, our 4 year old has been doing this to DH and I. we think it's cute though and she knows it's funny.
I'm definitely sure you'll be "mama" again after things settle down. That's amazing for a 12 month old to pick up on such things though

Haha, LO doesn't talk yet. Well, she says mama and dada, but she doesn't know what she's saying. DH's cousin's kids call their grandparents by their first names. But they're old enough to know better.

@BoogieBea: That's how it happened for us too. LO will poke her head around the steps and yell her version of my name.
@NYCaliMama: When we were packing and moving I think it happened a lot that people would yell my name up the steps and I'd poke my head down to see what they needed. She used to just do it to yell up the steps but now she'll walk around calling for me. It's only the first two letters of my name though she yells.

@Maysprout: he still calls us mama and daddy other times so we haven't been correctly him when he does call us by our names. It's kind of cute.
