@JoJoGirl: Yeah, can't hurt at all. C got tons of meds for tummy gas because we assumed that was the problem. How old is she? C's just like... magically turned off one day. It was like she woke up and was a totally different baby.

A didnt have reflux but when she was born her witching hour was from 6pm - 4am. she would scream bloody murder and DH and I tried everything. I bought happiest baby on the block, I think she was in the 20% where it didnt work for us. I did colic massages that would help for maybe 5 mins when I was doing it and when I stopped she would scream again. DH had to be at work at 7am and we were both taking hour shifts to sit with her while she screamed her head off. DH thought people would call CPS on us because she didnt stop.

When she turned one month. she just stopped and slept for 12 hours straight. I guess she was so tired from all that crying. When she turned 4 months everything got turned upside down again and now that A is 9 months she still has trouble sleeping.

You're doing a great job! hang in there and I know its annoying to hear but your LO will hopefully grow out of it. I would try some colic massage. this youtube video poster really helped me https://www.youtube.com/user/InfacolUK and loud white noise worked for a little for us too.

@JoJoGirl: Hugs!!! I wish that things weren't so bad. Is there anyway that you can hire a nurse at night to come help out a little bit? I know it would be expensive, but you getting some sleep and a break would be worth it. Or could your parents come visit over the weekend?
Have you tried gas drops? Gripe water?

@zippylef: This was my experience as well. It seemed like it stopped almost as quickly as it started. THANK JEEBUS!

@JoJoGirl: I had a reflux baby (and still almost 9 months later we still are battling it) and I can feel for you the screaming takes its toll, medicine did nothing for us either.

Do you have any friends nearby that could come in and give you a 30-1 hour break. The best advice I can say is you need to step away for a few minutes, gather your strength and some quiet, it really does wonders. My mom would come over on her lunch break and I would stand in the shower for 20 minutes with the radio blaring to just gather myself before she had to head back to work.

A bouncer did wonder, I called her bouncy chair the baby whisper, the slight incline and vibration would FINALLY put her to sleep (with a scowl on her face.) In the beginning she hated it, but I tried it out of desperation and after 2 minutes she calmed down and enjoyed it. I also kept music going that helped calm her too (and still does.)

Listen to your mommy instincts too, I did & ended up taking LO to a pediatric GI & it ended up being a bigger issue in addition to reflux. We are on a different medicine now & it is night and day!

If you are not convinced it is reflux, is there any chance it is gas? something else that maybe a specialist could find? LO was colicky; our evenings (especially) were hell. I remember both my husband and I saying the exact phrase your husband said (and worse)

Around 8-10 weeks it started to get better. Not great, but better.

It really pisses me off that they haven't been able to find a "cure" (or cause) of colic. Babies have been suffering from colic for decades, it isn't new. It just seems like something the doctors sort of dismiss in a way and just tell you "yeah it sucks, you just have to get through it". I wish there was more focus on treating it, studying it, etc. because it really is hell for parents, and for babies. I never understood how someone could snap and shake a baby until I had a colicky baby. Then I got how you could just break in an instant.

@JoJoGirl: hugs for you. I was going out of my mind with LMW (not nearly as bad as what you're dealing with and I was on the ledge as well!!) 6-8 weeks is the fussiness peak... my personal belief is that their gut just needs time to mature. You're so close to relief... hang in there :T

@regberadaisy: Reflux can be *silent* . . . not much spit up if any at all. My LO had silent reflux.

If it is colic, I am so sorry. Speaking from non-experience (kinda) colic is hard, but manageable. I had colic as a baby. It was SUPER bad. What ended up happening was my mom would have to put me in my crib, turn the vaccuum on in my room and shut the door and just leave me in there. As long as my needs were met, there was nothing else she could possibly do to make me stop crying and she needed her sanity. My Dad would do the same thing. They would literally trade off the second he got home from work and my mom would leave to go do something. Even if it was just driving around. Mine was pretty bad though.

I don't remember when they said mine stopped but they tell me that once I got over it, it was a light switch that went off. It was sudden and out of nowhere and I became the happiest, most chill baby they have ever seen in their entire lives. Hopefully you have the same outcome!

My twins were colicky and DH and I would walk the halls from 6pm till about 11 or 12. To be honest sometimes I put earphones in so I didn't have I listen to the constant screaming. I was able to rock them calmly without the irritation that comes from a constant crying baby.

@JoJoGirl: I so sorry that you're going through this. M is 8.5 months right now and I remember those days so well. She screamed all day every day. Never once slept for more than 10 minutes at a time during the day for months. The only thing that calmed her was very violent movement. The swing and the bouncer weren't enough for her, we had to be standing and bouncing her at all times. One thing that saved my sanity was bouncing on a yoga ball with her. The bouncing movement was enough for her and I could sit down while doing it. I'm pretty sure I spent consecutive months on that ball.

M was eventually diagnosed with MSPI and was helped by hypoallergenic formula, although she remained a very fussy baby. We didn't figure the MSPI out until she had visible blood in her diaper, but I wonder if your pedi would check her stool for hidden blood. You don't want to do an elimination diet for no reason, but if she was having blood in her stool that would be an indicator. She was also helped somewhat by reflux meds (zantac didn't help, but prilosec did).

I had such feelings of guilt through the whole thing. Of course I loved her, but I couldn't help feeling that my life had been ruined. People would give their congratulations and say "enjoy every minute!" and I would just cry harder. I just couldn't relate to those moms and their memories of sleepy newborn days. The good thing is - it gets so much better! I wish I had only known then how in love I would be with my baby in a few months and what a fun little girl she would be. Little by little I started to love my life again and you will too!

NO advice. Just ride it out. All I can say to make you feel better is, IT ENDS. It will pass!
My son is now an angel! He is so, so, so good and happy STTN and everything. He flipped personalities at about 10w?

@JoJoGirl: YESS!!!! LOVE COLIC CALM!!! It works miracles! I used to give it every 30 mins haha. It only works when you give it though, ya know?
What I mean is, when it wears off, the screaming returns full-fledged. It def helped for when I needed a nap or for when we need to go grocery shopping and I couldn't risk having him scream through the store.
It's like $20 bucks a bottle and doesn't last long.

oh, and it's black and stains. He pretty much lived in a bib.

Colic is so so so tough to get through. None of the colic calm or other remedies worked for us, other than bouncing non stop on a yoga ball or wearing her in a Boba wrap. I was literally going crazy. I would plan my week out so I never had to spend a whole day with her alone....one day go to my parents house, another day have my SIL over, another was mommy & me class. It was rough. At about 4 months it got better but my heart definitely goes out to you. Hang in there.

@JoJoGirl: do you think you have over supply? My letdown was very forceful and I believe it gave dd a lot of gas because she was gulping it down
