Since I've always moved around a lot, I have friends spread all over the globe (literally).

For my bridal shower, my friend sent invitations to my friends all over the world inviting them to a virtual shower. She asked them to each create a scrapbook page with whatever they wanted - photos, prayers, advice, memories of our friendship, and then she compiled them into a big scrapbook for me.

I've been thinking about my baby shower lately, and I was considering doing something similar. The same friend will be hosting it, but she said for me to figure out what I wanted and then she would do it.

Here's my idea - the invitation would include an explanation of the long-distance shower, registry information, and then a small triangle of fabric.
It will ask them to write a prayer, blessing, or message on the fabric and mail it back, to be made into a bunting banner I can use as a focal point during labor and remember all the women thinking and praying for me.

What do you think? Would you participate in a shower like this? Do you think that people will be happy to be included in my labor, or do you think they will just forget about it and never send the fabric back?
