I was on cloud nine this morning with a positive pregnancy test at 13dpo. BUT, then I had a blood test come back with an HCG of 20.7 which they said was OK but low. And just now when I went to the restroom I found a tiny amount of brownish CM on the tp. Is there any hope for this pregnancy? Please send positive thoughts this way. We want this pregnancy so badly.

Crossing my fingers for you. I wouldn't worry much about the brownish CM. I had it with this pregnancy and the last...I think it was implantation. I know it's super unnerving though. I don't know much about that beta level, but I will pray hard that this is a sticky pregnancy for you!!!!

Yes there is hope!! My first one was 48, and my progesterone was only 11, and she said 10 is the bare minimum. At my next appointment 72 hours later my HCG was 150, and I still don't know what progesterone was but she told me I didn't need the progesterone supplements. ETA: brown is old blood, so that's a good sign!

But now I am a nervous wreck. I was so hoping the beta would ease my worries rather than make it worse... And now the spotting. I did have some spotting with DS which freaked me out. I think it only is making me nervous combined with the low HCG levels. Everything I read says that it is very low. But the nurse didn't sound like it was horrible... I don't know.

@travellingbee: When the RE called me, she was all happy and "Congratulations!!!" She didn't tell me the number until after my second beta, and I love her for that. Once I had the first number, and googled it good lord I was scared. Then, I was scared 150 was still too low. If your doctor's office says it's okay try to trust in them. I'm sending tons of sticky dust your way!

@dc yoga bee: Yeah I stupidly asked. They didn't tell me up front. I should have just let it go but I always think I want more information. Then I google and get all upset.

@travellingbee: I forget, did you have an IUI this time around? I assume you are pretty sure of your ovulation date? Hopefully you just implanted late (there is a wide range of normal) or are one of those women who take awhile for HCG to get up there... if you think about it, anywhere from 1-5 is normal for non-pregnant. If you are someone that is starting at 1, it's going to take longer to get up there than someone starting at 5.

With this pregnancy I had a 45ish HCG at 12 or 13 DPO (so not too much higher) and brown/light pink spotting for over a week. Everything turned out fine. Hopefully your little one is just burrowing in for the long haul!

@travellingbee: My HCG was 17 on the day I got a BFP. It rose really nicely. Hang in there. As long as the spotting doesn't turn red, you're okay.

@travellingbee: thoughts & prayers for a sticky baby for you, dear. The spotting is scary, but not necessarily a negative thing. The low beta is also, not that bad. I know I've seen other posters share numbers (even lower than yours!), but they go on to have good doublings, which is all that really matters. It's great you are in the care of an RE, as they should support you much better than a typical OB/Gyn would in terms of getting repeat betas & perhaps earlier u/s's when it's time for that. Fingers & toes crossed & all the best wishes flowing your way!!

Hang in there! You're still very early, and maybe the baby implanted later then you thought and that's why your HCG hasn't had a chance to rise yet. It hasn't happened to me, but lots of people have some spotting with a healthy pregnancy.

When I first got my BFP my beta was at 15! And I had light brown spotting, but that was from implantation bleeding. My numbers rose really well now though and I so far have a healthy baby growing at 11 weeks!

I don't think an hcg of 20 at 13dpo is all that low. I think with DS I was around 50 at around 15 or 16dpo. So if you double evey 48 hours (which is what matters) you be at a pretty similar number.
My first pregnancy was a chemical and I had an hcg of 5 at 17dpo. I had red and brown spotting and actually thought my period was starting and was shocked when the RE told me I was pregnant.

I really don't think that you can judge just on that HcG alone - the HcG all depends on when you implant, as far as I am aware, so someone who implanted at 9dpo would have a higher HcG than someone who implanted a day or two later. You just need to know about the doubling
And I had a fair amount of brown spotting (and sometimes pink) all through my first trimester. I'm currently 38 weeks.I know it is easier said than done, but please try not to stress

My progesterone was I believe an 11 and I spotted (and more than spotted) everything from brown to bright red through my first trimester. Here is the result of that, though currently she is sleeping on my chest
