I had one, but they didn't even tell me about it until my next appointment. I had no restrictions, because it's pretty common and the majority move by 28 weeks (when the follow up scan typically is).

@Freckles: The difference between low lying and previa is whether or not it actually touches the cervix. As long as it's not covering any part of the cervix, it shouldn't cause any problems. And at 20 weeks there is definitely still plenty of time for it to move up. Mine moved up considerably between 20 weeks and 28 weeks (when they rechecked it to decide whether or not it needed continued monitoring). I was really freaked out about it, but honestly, even if it doesn't move, all that means is you need a c-section, so if that's the WORST possible case, it's still not the end of the world. I was on pelvic rest, but I also had a sensitive cervix and preterm contractions so I was on pelvic rest anyway.

I had a low lying one diagnosed around 20 weeks with my 1st LO. I had the same instructions as you and went back about 6 weeks later for a check. It had moved by then and was completely in a normal place and I could go back to all normal activities. I had a complication free L&D vaginal birth.

@Freckles: Considering they didn't even let me know until 4 weeks after the scan, you're probably okay with having had sex :). You would more than likely know of something was wrong, especially if you've had an otherwise uneventful pregnancy.

I was told I had complete placenta previa at 20 weeks and that I would most likely need a C-section around 39 weeks. I was put on pelvic rest and told to restrict my exercise. We had U/S every 4 weeks (there were also cord issues, so they were looking for growth restrictions) and at our last appointment (around 36 weeks) it had moved completely and we had a normal vaginal delivery. No bleeding and it never caused me or baby any problems (other than some added stress).

I had placenta previa with my first, but it wasn't completely covering the cervix or anything, just positioned close to it. It moved out of the way and I didn't have any restrictions. Don't stress! It has time to move.

My story is the same as everyone else's, low lying at 20 weeks, moved up by the following check up ultrasound. They didn't give me any restrictions.

I just found out that I have it too and I have to go back in 8 weeks to see if it moved up. The on call doc gave me a 99.95% chance it will move up. *fingers crossed*

i seem to be the odd person out that was diagnosed at 11 weeks, which seems ridiculously early, but we have been told no intercouse till me 20 week scan...it's been a rough couple of weeks in all honesty. i'm hoping it moves by then!
