I hear good things about the Winkel, Skwish, and the baby beads but wonder if my daughter will care about those types of toys yet. She is mildly entertained by her play gym and Sophie, but doesn't seem to be super interested in most toys just yet since she can't hold things for very long.

We used the Skwish from that age - he loved it after a while!

DD has loved her Winkel since she was tiny. She's 8.5 months and still plays with it. As I sit here right now, my dad is upstairs playing with DD with the Winkel attached to the end of a Santa hat, playing a game where he leans over and she grabs the Winkel and yanks the hat off his head. Hours of entertainment.

We had a skwish. At a year she's kind of over it, so I'd introduce one sooner rather than later.

@Miss Ariel: good to know. i just am not sure of what toys to get her for christmas since she isn't really "in" to anything yet! toys are overwhelming!

DS got the Winkel for Christmas last year when he was about 3.5 months old and was into it from the get-go!

Bennett was into the Winkel from about that young - introduce them now and if she doesn't seem interested, try again in a few weeks! He also really liked the wooden beads.

@ldh112: We have the skwish, and my 18 month old still loves to play with it! His current favorite way to play with it is to drop it down the stairs to watch it bounce, try and get a toy stuck out of the middle of it, or just put it in his big dump truck and roll that around. I think it really depends on the child!
