I shouldn't be awake or on HB since I have a phone interview tomorrow morning @ 9:30, then a in person at 11:45. Whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyy an I awake.

O, also spotting. This is my first ovulation spotting I think since Femara. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@LAZB: I was just teasing ๐Ÿ˜œ you since I wrote TO you and you popped on and responded to, like, 5 other board members and skipped over me. I thought it was funny.
As for my 10-lbs gain, I believe it is a culmination of factors - water retention (* I take hydrochlorothiazide for edema) which is so bad I can't twirl my rings ๐Ÿ˜ฏ, a mix of being constipated and gas ๐Ÿ˜ณ, along with overeating, a shift in hormones, and the fact I can not exercise as I normally do due to wearing the boot for my fractured foot (* No stability AT ALL! ๐Ÿคฃ); it is "The Perfect Storm" for gaining weight quickly. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

@yellowbeach: Love the chart. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Even though Iโ€™m not getting triggers, itโ€™s still pretty interesting. Iโ€™d be curious to know what the variance on half life is since clearly some people metabolize faster. Also I totally agree that I wouldnโ€™t want to know gender until I knew it was real. But thatโ€™s interesting about your friend. I guess whatever keeps you sane while you wait.

@Sams Mom: Good luck today! I hope you got some sleep eventually. ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€

So I had a crazy dream last night that I had taken my temperature and it was tracking down. I almost didnโ€™t temp this morning when I woke up because I thought I already had... ๐Ÿ™ƒ Trying again is getting in my head. But, thankfully I did because my temp is all the way up to 99 degrees... I feel fine, so I donโ€™t think itโ€™s illness related, but I guess weโ€™ll see how high it goes. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Chart below (I discarded my low temp from a couple days ago for my sanity.)

@karenbme: Thank you! (* I do worry about offending-- Perhaps, too much at times. ๐Ÿคฃ)
I think, from different articles I have read in the past, that unless you have a tubal defect (* a twist/crimp in the tube, uterine tissue growing in the tube, a long tube, etc), both of your EPs occured simply "by chance." Sometimes, if an overly mature slow-moving egg is fertilized too quickly or too far up the tube, it will [typically] implant within a tube (or at the connective base of the tube where it meets the uterus). It could be that 2x, this happened to you ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. In that case, it was a mix of variables (ova maturity, speed, and place of fertilization) and was only episodic through "chance" that it occured more than once ... change ANY of the variables, and it would not occur again. Since each cycle touts difference in hormones, egg quality, # of ova ovulated, and speed of movement; one may infer that your chance for a 3rd EP is extremely low (albeit not completely impossible). Besides, they say the 3rd time is the charm so, perhaps, the third BFP will be your "lucky" ๐Ÿ€. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’š

@fuzzypeaches: Thank you! I believe my fear of testing kicked in the moment my OSOM was white. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคฃ As for the reason for my gain, it is probably due to the perfect storm of variables (* see my response to Lazb).

@Kaohinani: Yeah, there arenโ€™t a lot of studies out there of patients with more than one ectopic because of how rare it is. This https://www.fertstert.org/article/S0015-0282(16)48322-6/pdf is the largest Iโ€™ve found, but came before MTX, so also doesnโ€™t really apply to me. My doctorโ€™s comment was specific to IF another embryo went down the same tube given the damage thatโ€™s likely from two EPs including one that grew to a little more than 2.5 inches. My tubes did pass the dye test a few months ago, so there isnโ€™t a physical barrier, but who knows.

    @yellowbeach: I. LOVE. THAT. CHART! ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿ’•
Thank you for humoring my nerdy side! ๐Ÿ™
The rate for the half-life of an HCG trigger is between 24 and 33 hours (according to studies and what is stated by the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Ovidrel). Factors in the rate of half-life include, but are not limited to, the amount (IU) of the trigger, how fast an individual metabolizes rHCG, and the amount of naturally occurring HCG in the woman's system prior to both the trigger and any pregnancy. So, with those factors in mind; both you and I took Ovidrel 250 (* which is 6500-IU); however, you may have a slower hormonal or medicinal metabolism, as well as, your naturally occurring HCG levels are higher than mine (you can trigger a pos FRER even when not BFP and I can't). It makes sense that I am now devoid of rHCG (10 dpt with nothing) while your levels are still going strong. 11-13 dpt makes perfect sense!

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@karenbme: Did your RE afford you any percentage to the chance an EP could, potentially, occur a third time? Even if the numbers are not exact, a .33% chance is better than 1%, and 1% is much better than a 5% chance out of the 15-20% a woman will conceive in any given month! I hope there was no tangible damage and it will be smooth sailing for any eggies. ๐Ÿคž

@Kaohinani: the RE didnโ€™t throw out a number after checking my tubes, and Iโ€™m guessing my OB probably didnโ€™t expect me to remember the number, but Iโ€™m a numbers person so if you say a number Iโ€™m going to remember it. If I didnโ€™t think there was a chance for this to work naturally weโ€™d be doing IVF right now, but itโ€™s just always a worry... โ€œIs that cyst pain that Iโ€™m having or another EP?โ€ And like counting out the days for when I might be having surgery (because Iโ€™m not doing MTX again.) My temp dip at 5 dpo certainly didnโ€™t help either.

@Sams Mom: If TD let's me keep this temp ... I could be heading towards "triphasic," just as you predicted! ๐Ÿคž

@fuzzypeaches: Totally agree that you miss out on a lot for what ifs during a drawn out process like this. Whether itโ€™s because you might not be able to go or you just donโ€™t have the energy to make it happen. I feel like Iโ€™m just now, almost 2 years in, starting to take care of myself again, and Iโ€™m totally excited to either hike or ride cable cars through the alps. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good morning ladies - I think DD is still on Pre-Daylight Savings bc sheโ€™s still sleeping late.

AFM, I tested triggers this morning and itโ€™s almost gone from the OSOM but still a firm line on the FRER. Temp went back up. Was wondering why/how the big dip since itโ€™s mainly my progesterone shits controlling my temp.

  18. karenbme

    persimmon / 1419 posts

    @Kaohinani: Thanks.

  19. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@yellowbeach: Looking fantastic! The trigger is eeking out and, no later than 10 dpt, you will have a white FRER ... unless you end up with your sticky bubs!
A dip is caused by a temporary 2ndary E2 surge post ovulation which is exchanged for a 2ndary P4 surge hours to days later. The 2ndary E2 surge helps stimulate the corpus luteum to take over some of P4 production (to keep it elevated for a possible pregnancy) AND to help thicken the uterine lining further. This shift can be seen on charts from women taking synthetic P4 since the synthetic is only being added to natural levels of P4. (The E2 causes the drop and the P4 causes the rise.) Temps may also be significantly higher in women on synthetic P4 due to the increased [collective] amounts of progesterone in the LP.
(* I do realize that you probably know all of this, but I am a huge nerd ๐Ÿค“ and get all kinds of excited sharing fertility and reproductive info .... you should have heard "the talk" DD and I had! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿคฃ *slow blink into hysterical laughter* The poor girl made me stop because it was too clinical for her ... I suppose it is one way to circumvent and postpone it for a bit longer! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Hey ladies, sorry I've been so quiet. We've actually decided we're going to TTA this month (uh, by using the pull out method lol), but since I'm not on BC and we're not using condoms, I'll still be POAS by the end of the month if AF doesn't show. So I'm just over here in limbo...

It is insane how wildly different the same job title varies between offices/clinics. This surgery med sec is intense! The doctor sees mostly breast cancer patients. So I schedule them through all the steps of treatment, coordinate OR and plastic surgeon if she ops for immediate reconstruction. It's intense.

But I also received the email link for references for a different job I interviewed for at this hospital.

  30. karenbme

    persimmon / 1419 posts

@Sams Mom: Congrats on the good interview and the reference request! Both good signs! Scheduling for breast cancer sounds like it would be really intense, but could also be super rewarding if the success rate is high (and super depressing if it's not).

@JennyLayneAZ: Limbo is the worst... Hopefully you get the outcome you're looking for at the end of the month!

  32. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@Sams Mom: If you get an offer, I would go for the job working as the surgery med sec! Sounds so rewarding and you are still within the confines of [primarily] treating women. Both my stepmother and my aunt had breast cancer. (My stepmom had 3 bouts with it and has been in remission for 7 years!) Both my stepmother really appreciated the kind staff (including the treating physician, PAs, nurses, scheduling staff, and receptionists) who helped her through her progression and remission. It takes a sweet person with patience for those who are ill and the ability to multitask to succeed... I think you would do well! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคž

  33. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

@Kaohinani: I told them I've seen it from the other side since I've had a couple aunt's and close family friends go through it, and know how much they appreciated the staff. The doctor and PA seemed really nice too.

Inadvertantly found out the maternity leave (at least for PAs) because she is due in 3 weeks and will be out April & May, back in June.

  34. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@Sams Mom: Wow, not terribly shabby for ML. Many places only offer 4-6 week! 9 weeks or better is decent (especially after a c-section!).

  37. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

@karenbme: one is one in less excited about the other is the med sec for the surgeon that I literally interviewed for 3 hours ago. The third one is the one I'm unsure of.
