@Kaohinani: OMG so exciting!!! Time to get your BD on, mama! My weekend is going fine, thanks for asking. DH is out of town, so Iโ€™ve been cooking myself to all the foods I like and he doesnโ€™t, which is a nice treat. Scallops are my absolute fav, but he hates the smell of seafood, so Iโ€™ve had scallops twice this week and am making fish tacos tonight. ๐Ÿ™Œ I also found the article about folate interesting. My prenatal has 800 mcg, but after each MTX dose theyโ€™ve put me on an additional 1000 mcg for 3 months once my HCG hits 0. Iโ€™m down to like 2 pills from the last round, but after reading that I might just keep up with it when we start trying again next month. I already take 3 pills every morning (prenatal, fish oil, calcium) whatโ€™s one more, right?

  4. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@karenbme: I am so jealous. My diet is fairly restrictive but I LOOOOVE seafood. Scallops, salmon, crab, oysters, and shrimp are among my favorites ... Heck, I even like caviar! DH has only been gone since yesterday (0600) and will be home late tonight so I didn't make anything stellar for me and the kids. I did indulge a bit did had a glass of Merlot while taking my bath after the kiddos went to bed. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

I am beyond stoked and REALLY hope that I can catch the fertility leprechaun this month! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’š Hopefully, he (or she) will grant me my BFP.

@Kaohinani: Omg, yes. Iโ€™m mostly meat-free, but Iโ€™ve always loved seafood, so much that one of my earliest memories is of being excited because my mom was making scallops wrapped in bacon for some holiday, just looking (up) at them on the counter as she was doing the wrapping before she put them in the oven anticipating how delicious they were going to be. I mustโ€™ve been 4 or younger based on the fact that my mom was around and healthy enough to be cooking, if that gives you a sense of how deeply my love for seafood (and especially scallops) runs. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@karenbme: @Kaohinani: you guys need to stop ๐Ÿ˜‚ I gave up shellfish when I married my husband ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Like his allergy is so bad that if I didn't brush my teeth multiple times, scrub my hands, and so on I'd have to stab him with an epi. Like we went to Alaska for our honeymoon, he offered to let me go get King crab legs by myself, and I just felt bad ditching him on our honeymoon that I didn't go.

Thankfully he was cleared for bivalves from w mild allergy, so I can have scallops ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Otherwise, my temps are still bottoming out, also I think today might be my last day of AF. Now the long wait for ovulation ๐Ÿ™„

  8. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@Sams Mom: Wow, he is worse than I am with my wheat allergy. If DH doesn't brush his teeth and kisses me after he has a sandwich, I get itchy all over my throat, mouth, face, and neck (and could break out with a rash). Benadryl usually helps me. With bees, I get close to anaphylaxis (tight throat, itchy tongue, localized rash and swelling but I never get to the point of beyond that). I have an EpiPen just in case I do, although a prescription dose of Benadryl usually works wonders.

I am hoping that today is your last day of AF. ๐Ÿคž Perhaps, you will have an earlier OV this cycle? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@Sams Mom: no crab legs in Alaska? Now thatโ€™s true love!
@karenbme: itโ€™s so funny the things we remember, but that is a deep love for scallops!

Iโ€™m ovulating today I think, and itโ€™s so hard to not want to get KU! I mean, we are still doing it, just pulling out, and even if we werenโ€™t, it would be VERY unlikely for me to get pregnant, but itโ€™s so weird to not want to lol. It will be a long wait for our retrieval and transfer since we will probably wait for July, but I think itโ€™s best.
In the mean time, im still going to pee on sticks for fun lol

@LAZB: โ€œIโ€™m still going to pee on sticks for funโ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Seriously, though, Iโ€™m glad you have a plan thatโ€™s giving you some peace of mind. I can say from experience that 6 months goes both really slowly and really quickly, so even if it feels like a long time now, itโ€™ll probably be July before you know it. Or at least I hope it feels that way for you!

Ladies, I am so freaking out right now. We just found a squirrel nest under DHโ€™s hood. One healthy baby. We are going to try and care for it.

In the meantime I have been feeling all sorts of KU from our oops. I caved and tested tonight as roughly 11dpo. Iโ€™m so scared!

As to the squirrel, cat/kitten milk replacer or whole goats milk. You might want to contact local conservation or maybe a vet about what comes after that food wise. I've known a few people with pet squirrels, they're fun.

    I am having a shit-tastic day ๐Ÿ™„

Came home from exchanging my pants that I accidently bought a regular instead of a tall in. I hit my garage door button before I usually just my garage door button. So when I was backing in, I hit it again and backed my car into it as it closed. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ It closed thankfully, but then when we went to leave later it wouldn't. My husband tried to fix it, it messed up more, he got mad/stressed (you know the whole sole income at the moment thing).

Thank God a former coworker/neighbor used to install garage doors, and came up to fix it in below freezing temps.

    I need a job ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@Jessiemuller88: I see it! So hoping this is it for you!

@Sams Mom: I have done that exact same thing. I hit my garage door button (which was on my visor), flipped my visor up which must have hit it a second time. Ended up backing into the garage door as it was on it's way back down. DH was sups thrilled ANYWAYS...I feel ya.

So question for the masses if you've switched jobs while TTC.

I've been trying forever as we all know, and it will take a lot for me to skip a month(s)... BUT a friend of mine delayed TTC when she got a new job because she wouldn't qualify for maternity leave until the due date fell after your 1 year anniversary. Is this a common thing? I'm hoping to get on at this hospital, so they have enough employees for FMLA (last job did not), so I should at least qualify there.

I really really really don't want to skip any months.

I plan to text a former coworker that now works at this hospital to see if she knows anyone that's had a baby to ask.

  26. bees_knees

    persimmon / 1064 posts

@Sams Mom: Iโ€™ve never been in the situation, but I *think* in order to qualify for FMLA you have to have been employed for 12 months AND have worked 1,250 hours. (I once had a coworker who cut it close on the hours...she was working as much as possible before her maternity leave and barely squeezed them in!)

Damn it. Hoping for your sake that you can find some sort of loophole or something

@Jessiemuller88: That is such an adorable squirrel! ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ’• One of my former students from the university has pictures of one he and his dad found in a fallen tree. There were 2 LOs but the smaller one didnt survive. Chip survived and Dale did not. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Anyway, his parents nurtured Chip (& found a very knowledgeable exotic animal vet) and Chip is now their pet!!! Chip is extremely attached to the father and, from what my student said, makes a decent pet due to the fact that it is supper clingy and loves being pet.
As for your BFP-ish, I see it! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ I REALLY hope it is a sticky BFP ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’š and can not wait to see what today's POAS brings.

@Sams Mom: I am sorry you had a shi!tty day. (Trust me, yesterday was no gem for me either between G throwing a tantrum at the RE's [he was the proverbial "birth control" at the fertility institute ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜ฅ], T not listening or following directions, DH being away [until 8 pm], and the tornadoes which crammed myself along with 2 kids and a set of hyper dogs into a laundry room for an hour+ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ˜ถ๐Ÿ™„! ) The only light at the end of the tunnel was the fact that I was able to trigger (and DH and I were able to DTD before 11 PM). As for skipping cycles and FMLA, I did not go through it (as both kiddos were happy surprises) but I was teaching with both. I did change teaching jobs before I fell pregnant with T, but within 6 mos, I had accrued my medical and right for 6 weeks mat leave (* T is a May baby so it worked perfectly with my summer break. I began summer tutoring at the school at 12 weeks PPT.) I believe the process and procedure differs by state and occupation ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ.

As for me, our home was unscathed and everyone fine after being crammed into laundry/food storage room. DH came home and I was able to BD. Things could have been so much worse. (DH and I still have to DTD this morning and evening AND tomorrow morning.) Hoping this cycle sticks. Also, I'm a bit [weirdly] excited to "test out" my trigger. It will be my 1st BFP (* besides the thing we do not speak of) since I tested for G ... I know, I'm odd ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚.

  28. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

Well, that was highly anticlimactic and a bit underwhelming... I metabolize medication so quickly that I can barely catch a positive HPT 15 hours after I triggered! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ˜–

Soooooooo crampy (and bloated) with hardly a thing to show for it! ๐Ÿ˜’

  29. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

@Kaohinani: what dose of trigger did you use?

  30. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

@Sams Mom: It was a premeasured 250 Ovidrel injection. It's half-life "should be" between 30-35 hours post trigger not 15 hours post trigger. So 15-18 hours AFTER it's half life, it would be down to 1/4 (... then 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, etc). Either I metabolize HCG quickly or the amount of HCG was very low and may not induce OV. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I will [probably] be receiving a neg HPT in the next day or two. I cannot find anything on whether HCG builds up to OV then declines or, if it begins declining immediately post trigger. Perhaps, @Yellowbeach, @FuzzyPeaches, @Karenbeme, or @Lazb would know? If not, I may contact my RE's PA and see if I need a second shot.

I "Doctor Googled" (* which I never do) and looked some info up via Study Viewer and on Health Tap:

  31. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

@Kaohinani: from the extensive creeping and reading I've done on ART/IVF it's usually 1-1.5 days per 1000 units (but I don't know if that high of a dose is specific to retrieval cycles). So a 10,000 unit trigger is conservatively assumed to be out by 2 weeks. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Wow, it has been a busy weekend on the POAS board, but first things first...

@Jessiemuller88: You have a baby squirrel!!! I hope it grows up to be strong and healthy.
And I see the the line on the test too, I hope it's the real thing!

@Sams Mom: I'm sorry things haven't been great lately. Hopefully the universe will balance it out with a BFP really soon.
As for the question about skipping some months TTC when changing a job - I did it. I would have gotten paid leave either way, but I would have gotten about three times less if hadn't waited and gotten pregnant right away. We didn't prevent though, just tried a little less than usual for a few months.

@Kaohinani: I'm relieved to read you're all okay, the news about the tornadoes reached our media too. It must have been really bad, because yesterday was election day and we have a huge doping scandal over here, not much room is left for other news at the moment.
I'm glad to hear your cycle is going well and everything is on track. I have high hopes for you!

It's cd14 for me today and I might ovulate right on time. I've had ewcm since Friday and had a positive opk yesterday. Time has gone by so fast, I remember when the first half of my cycle lasted for ever, now it's good if I remember to start temping before cd10...

I wrote to my doctor last week and obviously I haven't been in contact with her for a while, because it turned out she's not working at the moment - she's home with her baby (one can hope it's a good sign). She said I should make an appointment with another doctor as she'll be away for a while. I'll do that in the coming weeks.

Quick update after RE visit - roughly 18-20 follicles but he wants to do another day of meds to let a few more mature more. Retrieval day is pushed back to Thursday with a 5% chance it will be Friday. Now the scramble to find coverage for the shift Iโ€™m working Thursday and Friday. ๐Ÿ‘Ž

@paranundrum: Thank you. ๐Ÿ’š We are glad that there was no harm done to any of us or to our home. I hope you OV a nice, big, mature ovum this cycle! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ I am hoping that you will be able to find an OBGYN or specialist soon ... either way, you will need one [* either to monitor a pregnancy or to aid in TTC]. A doping scandal during the election?!?! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Wow, that sounds pretty close to level of crazy we see with elected officials here in the U.S.! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I spoke with my RE's PA and she stated that some women do not show crazy amounts of HCG post trigger as it metabolizes too quickly and is not expressed in full saturation in the urine. She told me not to worry as Ovidrel induces OV 99.8% of the time, even when HCG levels appear low. She told me to focus on my normal ovulatory symptoms (* Mittelschmerz discomfort, changes in cervical mucous, and horniness) as my LH may also not register on an OPK. Also, she does not want me to test out; rather, I am to take an HPT on 14 dpo and, if positive, come in on 15 or 16 dpo for my beta.

Also very brave with the baby squirrel! He looks so cute but I know they are so crazy as adults.
