Cue the nausea, headache, and indigestion. *Blech* 🤢☹ The [barely measurable] HCG is hitting hard (and making me feel like I did when KU with DD) 21 hours post trigger. @Yellowbeach: @Lazb: @Foodiebee: Have any of ladies had similar symptoms from Ovidrel or is it just that I am THAT sensitive to hormonal shifts? (* I am dreading the Crinone since I know I am progesterone sensitive. )

@Kaohinani: I don’t have much of a reaction to any of those meds (except progesterone, that shit makes me crazy lol). My doc said she doesn’t think I’ll have bad reactions to ivf meds either since my follicle count isn’t too high I’ll probably have a minimal reaction even though the meds should be effective

@LAZB: Thanks for responding. It is amazing how different people respond to the same medications. If I am feeling like crud less than 24 hours after administering my Ovidrel, I am ABSOLUTELY dreading the Crinone.

Update! We found the baby squirrel a home at a local wildlife rehabilitation center. I wanted to keep him, but he needed to be fed every 2 hours, and my schedule wouldn’t allow time for that kind of care.
I retested this morning with SMU and I got pretty much the same line. The tests were taken 11 hours apart, but I did expect a little darker of a line today. I’m just taking it one day at a time right now. I don’t want to go in for labs just yet.
I’m also afraid to tell my RE I’m pregnant... it’s the second oops I have had in his care.

@Jessiemuller88: Omg I see it too! Have you called your doctor yet? They'll probably want to start blood draws right away, but you likely won't know anything real for at least another week, probably more like 2. I don't know if there's anything I can say that will ease the fear of another loss. I know when I saw my positive after my first ectopic it was incredibly scary, and nothing that anyone else said helped. But I can say that my doctor recommends trying again right away to patients who have had surgery for ectopic pregnancies, and that whatever happens there is nothing you could have done to prevent it. And I know how hollow that sounds when you're in it, but it's true. Also I found this, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21669418#, which is only an abstract with a tiny N (like all EP studies, sadly) but found that it's much more likely to have an IUP than a repeat ectopic post ovarian EP.

@Jessiemuller88: I'm sure you're not the first person he's seen to have multiple oopses, so don't worry about that. Even just on this board there were 3 of us last month.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Congratulations on both counts!!!
Today's test looks an itty-bitty bit darker! That is AWESOME for only an 11-hour differential. OMG, I am so excited for you!
🤞
(@Karenbeme is correct, just last month we had the influx of "ooopses" so I could only imagine that REs see it quite frequently.
)
P.S. I updated your BFP on the chart.

@karenbme: @kaohinani: thank you ladies, but I can’t even begin to celebrate. I’m so overwhelmed by my emotions- fear, anger at myself, and I’m just waiting to lose this one too. I know I’m being such a downer, but I feel helpless and scared. I think I’m going to give it a week before I go in for labs. They stress me out so much!
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Don't apologize. This $#*! is HARD. Also, don't beat yourself up about not doing it perfectly, because there is no perfect here. Statistically, it is far more likely that you're going to have a normal pregnancy than a repeat ectopic or a miscarriage. By far the largest study of EP I could find when doing my own research (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3378618/) showed that nearly 78% of next pregnancies after EP resulted in live births. I have this bookmarked at home and at work because that's how much I needed to look at it to remind myself when I was where you are.
Also, I totally agree with waiting on labs (even though a doctor would probably disagree). DH and I have already decided that the next time I get pregnant we're going to wait until CD 35 (1 week after AF was due) before calling it in because the waiting is absolutely brutal and, at least in our experience, labs didn't really tell us anything at the beginning.

@Jessiemuller88: I don't know if I've asked this before, or if you've covered it before... But did you have any problems getting pregnant with your son? Or did this all come to be after your first?
I feel ya on the hesitance. This has got to be scary/stressful/overwhelming. Still keeping everything crossed that this baby burrowed in in the right spot for the long haul.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Kaohinani: o man, sounds like you react to those meds like I did too Clomid and Femara all the side effects
Best of luck on your ICI this evening!

AFM: I need to talk it over with the hubs, but I might keep trying through the job hunt. I'm too crazy to prevent, and might barely pull off NTNP

@Sams Mom: Oh I meant to say that FMLA policies may vary employer to employer. I was able to use some essentially FMLA time (4 weeks for surgery and treatment of a medical issue) 5 months after I started with my current employer, before I was FMLA eligible. They didn't have to do it, but when I told HR they were very supportive. At the time we didn't know it was only going to be 4 weeks, so it was kind of open ended, we'll get through this part and then see, and it was fine.
I did have one friend who changed jobs while very newly pregnant, and she was able to take 8 weeks for maternity leave. I don't think her employer twisted her arm about it, but I know that she felt really guilty and that was part of the choice to go back early.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@karenbme: if I can get off at least through the 6-8 weeks for a c section I'll make it work. I got 12 weeks full pay without using vacation with my previous employer, but I know that's not as common in the US.
Maybe I'll follow my previous track record of getting pregnant 4 months into a new job, and will actually be past my 1 year if that's the policy.
ETA: since it's a hospital I'm trying to get on at, I would think they are willing to work with you on these kind of things 🤷♀️
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Sams Mom: 12 weeks at full pay is amazing! However it happens I'm sure you'll figure a way to make it work. I feel like we're finally getting to a place in the US where employers recognize how important parental leave is. For c-section you might also consider short term disability policies beyond parental leave.

@karenbme: thank you so much for sharing the research and your own experiences! I will read it and try to give myself a break. I agree with you about the labs. They aren’t telling until after a few weeks, and I don’t want to deal with the anxiety that comes with waiting for numbers.
@mrskansas: thank you ️
@sams mom: I hope it burrowed in the right spot too! Thank you! I did have trouble conceiving my son, but I never had a miscarriage. We tried for a year. I took Clomid, because I wasn’t ovulating regularly, and I got pregnant with him the first month I was on it. I had a super easy pregnancy.

I just took another test because I couldn’t wait until the morning, and it’s much darker than this mornings.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Jessiemuller88: heck yeah! That's a much clearer line! Are you going to ride it out to 4 weeks? 5 weeks? To see the RE
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Jessiemuller88: OMG the PM one from today is so much darker! That’s such a good sign! 🤞🤞🤞Also table 2 from the big study is really what helped the most. It’s clear and concise and shows that more than 1400 women progressed from EPs to normal, healthy babies compared to ~200 for each of the negative outcomes. So if it’s too long, just scroll to table 2.

@karenbme: @Sams Mom: The HCG is making me feel preggers... the ICI just made me feel [slightly] violated. 🤣

Now DH and I DTD in the morning (Crinone on Wed morning) and then it is a Loooong TTW.

@Kaohinani: oh man - something tells me this is going to be an extra long 2WW! I kinda want to know more details on the ICI? Straightforward? Any mishaps? Did you guys do a trial run before hand? So many questions...
@JessieMuller88: so happy to see that squinted but I totally understand your apprehension. How can we help you pass the time? New hobby? Need some Netflix recs? I can’t even imaging how your mind must be swirling.

OK, ladies. After getting excited last month and talking it over, DH and I have decided to get in the game for real. I used an OPK this evening and it was real positive, but I’ve been temping and haven’t risen yet, so here goes...
Cycle Day: 11
TTC Cycle: 19 with 3 pregnancies/losses and some time off mixed in
O date: est. 3/6
POAS date: 3/20
Baby #: 1
1) Will you wear green on St. Patrick’s Day? I’ll mean to, but probably forget.
2) If I caught a leprechaun I would absolutely poof myself a baby over anything else, 100% not even a question. But I recognize that I’m pretty lucky in other areas of my life.
We might only get one or two BDs in, but we’ll see what happens.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: Wow, I'm super bloated as well but you have a legit FSH pooch there!
Let's hope they collect a bunch of viable big eggies from you this cycle. 🥚🥚🥚
To respond to your query: No trial run. The ICI was a "one shot" deal (* pun, absolutely intended 🤣). My ICI was performed "in office" to compliment DH and I having intercourse. (Many couples use at home kits but my RE wanted to check the sperm quality before we used it with the option of a washed sample.) DH's sperm was inserted in vaginally using a small syringe (similar to IUI) but the sperm was placed at my cervix rather than in my uterine cavity. Post ICI, they had me lay there to promote the migration of the sperm into my uterus. It was slightly intrusive (as are all pelvic checks, transvaginal U/S, paps, and procedures 🤦♀️🤣) but non-invasive. I did take a pain reliever before hand, however, it was no more painful or stressful than inserting Preseed or a tampon. I still have my home ICI kit so, if this cycle doesn't take, next cycle may be our last TI/ICI (and I'll inseminate at home with DH's unwashed specimen) OR we may try IUI.

@karenbme: I'm so excited that you are giving this cycle a go! Welcome back to active TTC and I will update the board with your info. Good luck
and Happy BD-ING!

Testing out the HCG (2 days post trigger).
This may be the closest I see to a BFP so, for some reason, seeing the 2nd line makes me kind of "giddy." I know, it is weird 🤦♀️🙄🤣
🤣.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Kaohinani: Thanks! And you’re not weird for getting happy butterflies over seeing two lines. You’re trying something new that’s going to give you a better shot at seeing two lines for real. It’s exciting
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@karenbme: You are exactly correct. I love thinking that the meds and ICI could, possibly, increase my chances for a true BFP.
Thank you for normalizing (and indulging in) my odd fascination and pleasure over seeing a "Non-BFP positive HPT."

@karenbme: exciting! Good luck!
@yellowbeach: oh man, hope this means lots and lots of good eggs!
@Kaohinani: I get giddy looking at two lines even if they aren’t “real” too. Hope they are really real in a couple of weeks!
