Oh honey, I am so sorry. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

I'm very sorry. I experienced something very similar and opted for a D & C because I couldn't stand the thought of potentially miscarrying at work or while out and about. I also wanted to experience to be over as soon as possible and felt that I'd have more closure that way. I was able to have the procedure the next day.

Again, I'm so sorry. I also elected for a d&c. The baby had died a week and a half earlier, but I wasn't having any mc signs. I really just wanted it to be over with. I also have a young toddler and was afraid of a potentially painful miscarriage while dh was at work.

Oh no No personal experience but one of my close friends m/c naturally when she was around 10w and I think it was pretty traumatic for her. So I'd probably elect to do the d&c. Also will be easier for you to arrange child care. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have no experience with D&Cs but chose to miscarry naturally both times. One was very early on and the other was about 10 weeks. I had to wait about 2 weeks for my body to let go on its own, so that was stressful, since I never knew when it was going to happen. It was like a mini-labor - contractions and cramps and bleeding - and then my body released everything at once. My doctor requested that I bring the tissue into the lab for testing ASAP (to ensure that I passed the placenta and wasn't retaining any of it). I did as she asked, but in retrospect, my husband wishes we had chosen a pelvic examination instead and had a burial.

After that, it was like a normal period for about a week.

@HLK208: I think it's impossible to not feel guilty. Everyone will tell you not to, but I don't think anything anyone says can stop the feeling.

But unless you were shooting up or drinking heavily or doing other incredibly risky behaviors, I'm sure chances are incredibly low that you did anything wrong.

I'm so sorry for your loss. With my miscarriages (9.5 weeks and 5 weeks) I chose natural (well, 5 weeks they didn't give me a choice) because I wanted to try again sooner. They said I'd need to wait longer if I had a d&c. I did use misoprostal, mostly because they didn't present it as optional (I had a pretty shitty OB at the time). But I would probably make the same choice now that I'm more informed, because I couldn't handle sitting around waiting for it. Though if I were to have another m/c if we decide to try for a second, I'd probably opt for a d&c for the tissue tasting option. So I guess I recommend weighing what your priorities are (getting it over with, trying again, testing, etc) in order to decide.

ETA- Just saw your reply. I promise you it wasn't your fault. It's almost impossible to randomly cause a miscarriage in a healthy pregnancy. I know "these things happen" is incredibly not helpful, but it's true. Unfortunately a lot of pregnancies end in miscarriage and it really just sucks.

Oh H, I'm so, so sorry to hear this For many of the reasons already mentioned, I'd go with the D&C as well, but I'm so sad you even have to make this decision. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers

I'm so sorry. I was scared to have to deal with it naturally and on expectedly while I was working in dealing with my daughter. The DNC was very easy

I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this, thinking about you! I have done both. My medicated natural miscarriage (to start the process) and recovery was much better than my D&C but the baby measured 7w5d. My doctor told me 8.5 weeks was around the time that it became questionable whether the miscarriage would be easy and complete (no further interventions needed) when doing it naturally.

I have had a D&C and honestly would definitely choose it again. It was very fast, and recovery was very easy. I was terrified of miscarrying naturally on my own before my D&C. If I had the choice I would definitely do a D&C. SO sorry taht you even need to make this decision

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I chose to miscarry naturally and bled for two days. At a routine follow up ultrasound they discovered it had not passed so I wound up having to have a d&e anyway. I wish I had opted for that from the beginning. It was very "easy" on my body and I liked the certainty of it.
