LO is a year old and gets into everything! Whenever she gets into something gross I say something along the lines of "hey Josie Grossie, stop that" in a teasing manner...DH heard me say that the other day and thought it was mean..I thought it was funny! thoughts??

My mom sued to jokingly call my little sister "Bratina" when she was being a brat, because I watched a cartoon where one of the characters was named Bratina. It wasn't mean spirited at all...it was funny!
I don't think it's mean.

It's not mean from family if they know it is a joke. It might be embarrassing after a while though

I think taken out of context it is mean. Let's say you used it when she wasn't doing anything gross, but had the potential too then itVs downright embarassing. Ex. At a party cakes drops on the floor and as you scramble to make sure your child doesn't get in the mess you say "Oh boy, better find Josie Grossie before she has a field day in this cake!" But, then again I am sensitive to name calling.

Yeah I would probably stop calling her that just so you don't get in the habit. It's cute and funny now but could be embarrassing for her once she gets bigger.

We call our little one Chubbs or Chubbsy because she is so tiny and not chubby at all. My SIL thinks its mean, but DH and I kind of love it.
