Yoga pants?

@T.H.O.U.: I thought this too! Especially yoga pants (or really any workout gear) with your hair down and make-up on.

Short hair is definitely still associated as being a "mom" haircut. That's the only one I can think of that hasn't gone out of "mom style"

Huh, really, short hair is mom hair? I had short hair in my early 20s, I wasn't a mom at that time.

I had super short hair in my goth teenage days....

I have to say those stupid tennis skirts.

@T.H.O.U.: I agree- yoga pants every day. Not so sure about the short haircut- I think it's more work to wear short hair down than medium- long hair up in a ponytail every day.

I do feel like regular and mom style has a lot of crossover- flats are cool again (wait, right?), sperrys and flat boots...

Are boot cut jeans becoming mom jeans?

Definitely about to walk out the door in yoga pants....

@Lindsay05: oh I know I look like a mom. I try to actually wear sneakers and a more athletic top so maybe people think in going to the gym that day. When I'm wearing flip flops or something it's a giveaway that I am just chilling in work out gear.

@rahlyrah: exactly! The problem is getting stuck in whatever style was in when you were in hs/college. So the new "mom jeans" will be bootcut jeans (or maybe more like flare leg jeans), as @Foodnerd81: said. Also chunky boots/shoes.

Well my go to as of lately is nike athletic shorts, a tshirt, and flip flops. But! When I was out this weekend with baby, I noticed many high school/college aged ladies also sporting this style. Therefore, I concluded I am in step. Bam.

@rahlyrah: I totally agree, and I think that means that skinny jeans tucked into boots will be similar to the tapered jeans of the 90s.

I also think it is too bad that "look like a mom" has a negative connotation- or maybe I am just perceiving it that way? I don't think any jeans are "mom jeans" unless they are sexless, and that might be my interpretation of the term. I don't think the term applies/has to apply to a certain cut of jeans necessarily. Also, moms are coool! And certainly not sexless so I want to reclaim "mom look" to mean you look like a good/awesome/hot mom Cuz we are, right?

@Smurfette: @BakerBee: A HUGE chunk of the women I saw walking around on the 4th were wearing them, I also saw a bunch in the past couple weeks when I took C to the zoo and the science museum.

Maybe I just notice because I think they're kind of awful...

Definitely not yoga pants or athleisure attire because I'm in college and all the college girls wear yoga pants all.the.time. @rahlyrah: totally makes sense and I think I agree!!

@Greentea: agree on the capri pants!!! Those are 1000% mom territory. I mean, you do see young kids wearing them. And teens wear the tighter fitting kind. But I see so many older moms (I'm talking moms in their 40s, 50s, 60s wearing the elastic waist, no shape capris, usually pair with those flowing cardigan-shirt combos. I'll try to find a pic.

I am a librarian and at librarian functions, 75% of the room is wearing capris (sometimes even "fancy" capris). It's...interesting.

@Shutterbug: say it ain't so! i love my fake toms and skinnies. but at least when my kids look back at their childhood photos and see me in them they will know i was stylish then.

@Mrs.Panda: I agree, in FL this is all what the grandma/mothers wear!

@Anagram: yes you know! I see a lot of baggy capris with keens, crocks, flip flops... cargo capris with strings at the bottom... tshirts...
