We did not have one with our second. Nobody volunteered to throw one and I feel to greedy to throw one myself. Although I think every baby needs a celebration!

I had to Speerhead my first one and I had fun but I admit it felt a little lame. I hate that some people thing you only get a second shower if you have the opposite gender. How annoying! I will not push for a shower but no matter what I have I will make sure baby gets some of their own things.

in my area you don't get one for #2.
I know one person that did, but they had recently had a house fire and lost almost everything.

In my circle the baby shower is for the mom, to welcome her into motherhood and take care of the things she'll need to take care of her baby.
I already have everything from baby one so I don't need much for baby two.
No second shower for me.

I had a shower for my second but only because my first baby is 9 years older than his sister! I didn't have one for my third (2 years apart).

@Lindsay05: our group of friends/family also feel that every baby should be celebrated!
It's typical in my circle for second time moms to have a sprinkle, diaper shower, or coed BBQ/shower party. It's usually more fun and casual than the first, more traditional shower

My mom offered to throw a second shower but I told her we didn't want one. My boys will be 20 months apart so I had mostly everything. Instead we had a BBQ with family to celebrate DS2. I do believe every baby should be celebrated. We got some gift cards and clothes.

I've never heard of it being okay to have more than maybe a second if the second child is a different gender. My cousin had one for all four of her's (so far), and people were pretty scandalized. I wonder if it's a regional thing.

I didn't have a shower for my second (though one was planned, he just came early). I did have one for my third. It felt weird doing it, but my friends where I live now didn't know me before my first and were really excited to throw it.

I had one for #2 and as soon as I announced I was pregnant there were people talking about throwing me another. It's definitely not something I expected but around here its totally normal to have one for every baby.

I won't have one for my second and to be honest, I am not really into second showers. I don't know - seems a little gift-grabby to me. But I guess if someone wanted to have a casual, no gift party to celebrate the baby, I wouldn't see an issue with it.

I had a very small "sprinkle" with only sisters, aunts and cousins. It was only 10 people and we had dinner at a local restaurant. My mom and sisters went in on a large gift and my aunt and her daughters went in together on several medium sized things.
I think its okay to have a sprinkle and I wanted to focus on spending time with the special women in my family before the new baby comes. I didn't need a lot of stuff because we are having the same gender, less than 3 years apart.

The only person IRL I know who had a shower for a second+ baby had her kids 8 years apart (second was a total surprise so they had tossed all their baby gear).
