Were you embarrassed to admit you were pregnant again? My LO's will be 19mos apart (I'm guessing...still don't know how far along I am except more than 5 weeks). I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it to family this weekend!

Yeah, I was. My coworkers are all male and unmarried and they thought I was crazy.

At first I was because I had just gotten a promotion. Ds was 10 months old when I found out!

I know I shouldn't feel this way but I do...mine will be about 21 months apart and we are telling everyone at Thanksgiving dinner. I guess I am just scared of getting some catty comments and being hormonal about it.

Yepp, definitely at first. Mine are 13.5 months apart so DS was only 6 months old when we announced. We got a lot of "Well THAT wasn't planned" comments.

@Running Elley: They'd be right in our case!
I wish I knew how far along I was - I think that makes it worse. I got pregnant while breastfeeding and don't have a US till the 13th.

@jedeve: I'm dying to know how far along you are. Don't feel embarassed!! Be confident and be so happy. Ain't no shame in being fertile.

@jedeve: I'm pregnant with number 2 and my LOs will be 19 months apart too Sometimes I get a little self conscious about it, mostly because it makes me uncomfortable for people to think that baby 2 is somehow less "wanted" (we tried to get pregnant for both though actually). It doesn't help that the first thing my MIL said was "did you plan this?" Ugh...not an appropriate question no matter what the answer may be!

@jedeve: Try not to be embarrassed it's so exciting!! Do you ahve to tell people this weekend, or can you hold off until you know how far along? Can you fake the drinking?

We told everyone we wanted a third soon so it shouldn't be a surprise. I'm not expecting anyone to be shocked or rude about it...if they are I'll probably tell them we wanted them close in age.

I got pregnant right after DD's 1st birthday, so I wasn't embarrassed.

People can be so rude... I hope your family responds enthusiastically and excitedly! My babies will be 12.5 months apart and we've only told my immediate family because I'm still only 8 weeks and we'd like to wait until week 12 or so. However, I do admit it is a little weird/somewhat embarrassing to be making an announcement so soon after our first one (we actually told everyone over Thanksgiving last year!).
Last year, DH and I got pregnant 2 months into marriage so we got a whole slew of comments about how it certainly couldn't have been planned, right? It actually irritated me because it was insinuating that somehow our timeline wasn't well thought out -- even though we were married college graduates with a good salary! They got over it. And they will this time, too!

@LuLu Mom: I don't like hiding things! Plus we had planned on ordering sushi tomorrow night, and beer/wine is always a big part of the celebration. It's easier just to let them know.

I'm 16w now and think that is still part of why I am in no rush to announce! They will also be 19m, I don't want to deal with the "you're brave" type comments and beyond!

ours will be around 17 months apart. we got a lot of "wow, that was fast" comments when we announced. LO was 7 months old when I found out, but we didn't announce til he was closer to 11 months. it actually wasn't as bad as I was expecting though. no "was it planned?" comments, thankfully.
it didn't help that LO number 1 was a honeymoon baby!

Mine will be 19 months apart and no I was not embarrassed! My aunt just had her second and hers are only 12 months apart, so I think most of the family was still surprised at that one

Not embarrassed at all! Mine will be 20 months apart. I think most people (family and friends) were expecting it.

Mine will be 19 months apart when LO #2 arrives in Feb and I worried that people would make comments, but the fact of the matter is we wanted our first two close together so this is perfect. We kind of said from the start that an 18 to 22 month age gap would be perfect so most people weren't surprised at all when we announced!
Don't feel embarrassed - there is nothing to be embarrassed about! And it will be nice for your LOs to have siblings close in age

Mine are 22 mos apart so I think that is less surprising to people. However, my niece said "Already?!" when she found out and we thought it was hilarious - she's 6 and 4 yrs older than her brother.

Mine are 15 months apart. We got a lot of 'yup, guessing that wasn't planned, was it?' Comments and that made me embarrassed. When I got my BFP I just cried and told DH that everyone was going to think we were crazy, and they did. But in the end, they didn't matter, and we are happy with their age gap
Also, I hadn't the slightest idea how far along I was when I found out. I was 6-7 weeks when we found out and that was a little more 'embarrassing' to me, because I couldn't even answer the question 'when is your due date?' Because I had no idea!
