I was at a c-section at work, helping a new NICU nurse learn the ropes, and I had to run out of the OR and barf in a garbage can, right in the middle of the hallway between LDR and NICU with at least a half dozen co-workers looking on. I was able to make it back in the OR in time for resuscitation, but afterwards I had some explaining to do!

@sslm: Nope! I was only about 5 weeks pregnant at that point. Unfortunately/fortunately I had to spill the beans, and the whole NICU knew quite early. I had hyperemesis, and that was just the beginning of random puking.

Culver's drive thru....DH insisted on picking up food and just the smell of the place caused me to get sick everywhere.

I have hyperemisis so I have no shortage of embarassing vomitting stories. My top three would probably be (1) before I knew I was pregnant I vomitted all over my boss' desk and an executed agreement (pretty sure he wanted to kill me), (2) I nearly vomitted on my SIL in a Michael's and she RAN from me to another aisle, and (3) the last day I worked before I was pulled from my job (due to my HG) I threw up so violently at my desk that women in my desk cluster came around the partition and just stared at me.

I'm now 32 weeks and still had a lovely public vomit fest at my baby shower on Sunday.

One time Dh and I went out to breakfast and at that point I threw up every time I got hungry. Well I was hungry and was doing a great job not throwing up until we were right in front of the restaurant and I smelled the food and threw up a bit on the sidewalk!

@lemondrop: I always keep grocery bags in the car!

Hmm I threw up on my pants in the bathroom at work, but I washed it off and went back to work.

Also went to a bar with mom and so, and threw up in the parking lot

though my nausea was 24/7, the actual sickness has only manifested between 12am and 8am. so, while throwing up is no fun, at least i got to do it in the comfort of my home! it got so bad a week or so ago that while i was projectile vomiting i peed ALL OVER THE PLACE. i couldn't control myself, and it was all over me and the bathroom floor. my poor husband didn't know what to do -- he was obviously grossed out, but he was trying so hard to be sweet! ha

we were flying down to florida and i started throwing up on the plane, it was soo embarrising. the girl across the asile offered m e gum though, she was nice about it!

@Coco Bee: JessicaMcB mentioned having hyperemesis gravidarum--it's a really scary, serious issue that my best friend also suffers from. To put it simply, it's an extreme form of "morning sickness" that can last for an entire pregnancy. Serious cases require hospitalization for IV fluids and strong anti-nausea medication (the kind often prescribed to chemo patients).

Okay, sorry to get off track! I've learned a lot about HG because of my friend and tend to go off on tangents about it!

Ugh I am not looking forward to this. I'm 5w2d and have had some nausea but not yet thrown up but I know it's coming.

With my first pregnancy I was driving home with my neighbor after dinner at the Olive Garden and we were on a main interstate in VA and I all of a sudden felt like I was going to hurl. I tried to roll down the window but didn't make it and threw up all over myself and her new car. She was great about it but seeing her car mats and stuff sitting outside her car the next day while she was trying to air it out wasn't too awesome lol

I'm SO feeling you on this. Have you tried Unisom and B6? That has been making a world of difference for me!

I was eating at a Fazolli's and the urge to hurl came way too fast, I stood up and could only make it to the bin where you put in dirty silverware. Ugh, that was awful. Plus it was right in the open where everyone could see.

omgosh these stories! I'm pretty lucky all my m/s has mostly been nausea with very few incidents of actually throwing up. And when i have, I've been at home or found a restroom.

Worst moment ever was last week at my sister's wedding. It was a long Catholic ceremony with standing, kneeling, sitting, etc... I started dry-heaving while were were standing in the pews and I didn't know what to do. Thankfully, I just tried to stay standing until we were told to sit. I was a sweaty, hot mess by that time though!

@JessicaMcB: I feel like we should start an HG support thread; I know there's a few of us around here that have suffered from it...

Also, I'm part of an HG support board: http://www.helpher.com. Definitely check out the forums. The support on those boards helped me get through my HG pregnancies, and made the whole illness a lot more manageable.

I had DH pull over on the side of a busy busy highway and I ran out and puked my guts out loudly and violently....just then a tow-truck pulled up behind us and the man came out and asked if we needed a ride and if we were OK...My husband was like "our car is fine---it's my wife that's not OK". And the tow-truck man said "well, I can't do much for HER!"
I could overhear all of this in-between my vomiting-yuck.

Umm, not as bad as some of these, but I ate some chicken teriyaki and ended up throwing up at Safeway. I was able to get to a bathroom in time, but only to the sink, and the sinks have the grates so that it would all go down. It was pretty gross.
