    @anbanan15: wait... the z is silent in Jaz "Ja" or you don't pronounce Jazz with a long drawn out z?

    @birdofafeather: The second z in Jazz so they spelled it Jaz. the parents were artsy so maybe trying to be unique? But I removed the father making that statement in class (art teacher, wife music/band teacher).

    @birdofafeather: I am laughing so hard!! They do have a long complicated last name, but still! That statement just stuck with me all these years (little Jaz has to be about 15).

    Markella - I'm really curious whether they were honoring a Mark with her name, or just liked it on its own. I'd never heard it before.

    @lady baltimore: Markella is really common from the Greek island of Chios. I think its the Italian influence (Marchella).

    @FannyMae: Interesting. I know that they do have some Greek heritage, so I bet that's where they found it. I think it's a nice blend of unusual and accessible.
