hi - does anyone have experience with seeing two OBs to determine which they want to settle with? How did you communicate with the two. And ultimately, when you selected one, what did you say to the other? Thanks!

Are they within the same practice? Or different practices? Are you pregnant already... or are you just searching for an OB for when you eventually become pregnant?

Hi @mamamoose, they are different practice. I am blessed to be double covered for insurance.

@mamaL: If you are not yet pregnant then I wouldn't worry about meeting with both of them and choosing the provider you like best. If you are already pregnant I wouldn't be having prenatal care from two different practices... I don't think that's in anyone's best interest.

I happened to switch OBs at 23 weeks...I didn't really like the one I was with, and had 4 colleagues recommend the OB they used during their pregnancies. I scheduled an appt with the new OB, and the first appt was worlds apart from our previous doctor--it was really a no-brainer to switch at that point. Switching OBs also meant changing the hospital where I was to deliver, which was also what i wanted. I just fibbed and told the old OB's office that I was moving...they didn't really care, btw--I didn't really need to give an explanation, now that I think back on it!

My OB was in a hospital practice. Around 4-5 months into the pregnancy they started rotating the OBs I would see when I head my checkups because they said they couldn't guarantee if my particular OB would be on call the day I delivered. I thought it was strange in the beginning but actually didn't mind. I probably saw 6 or 7 different OBs during my pregnancy and I had never even seen the OB who delivered DS. Honestly, I was totally fine with it. I had no complications during pregnancy or delivery, so I wasn't worried about anything.
