Have a favorite fungi/mushroom?
Personally, my two favorites are plain ol white button mushrooms and not so plain ol Chanterelles. My next two favorites are oyster mushrooms and pine mushrooms.
Most of the time, my favorite way to cook them is to sautee them with butter, garlic and thyme.
Do you have a soft spot in your heart for mushrooms? What's your favorite way to have them?

I put mushrooms in everything!!! I love button mushrooms for sauteing and cooking into things, I love portobello mushrooms for grilling and eating on their own.

I love mushrooms! My favorite is definitely Boletus edulis, here they call it Karljohanssvamp (where I first had it). It has a ton of common names though: King Bolete, Porcini, Cep, penny bun. For my birthday last year, just before I got pregnant, I found a few growing under an oak tree not too far from my house! I like to think of it as one of the best birthday gifts ever!

white button mushrooms i saute with garlic, butter, balsamic, and oregano. or soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil.
trumpet mushrooms i cook in olive oil, and then dip them in a sauce of sesame oil, salt, and pepper. they're so meaty!!!

Portabellas! Oh, I love the white button mushrooms cooked in broth then filled with sour cream and chives (the kind at the Melting Pot!) yumm.
