It isn't cute. I just put on a pair of sandles that I haven't worn in a few months and they don't fit.

Sorry! I am so not looking forward to this. I will probably be wearing flip flops in the winter cause of this!

I know the feeling. My last tri I had to wear flip flops to work because none of my shoes would fit.

I had to buy one pair of flip flops to wear my whole last trimester because nothing would fit. My feet got sooooo gross!

I had bad swelling from 27 wks on... Use it as an excuse to get draining food massages from your dh. Also try laying on your back in bed with your feet up against the wall, compression tights, soaking them in ice water and swimming. All these things helped but never made the swelling go away for me. Good news is once baby arrives that water weight comes off quick!

Even the Old Navy flip flops are cutting into my poor sausage feet. @Chastenet: And YEP, 27 weeks right now.

Aww. Stinks! Keep them elevated and drink lots of water! Get some compression stockings if they get really bad..

I was so sad when my Old Navy flip flops didn't feel comfy anymore This is weird, but I used aloe vera to massage my feet at night. Didn't really help with the swelling, but the cool feeling helped to make them feel like they weren't so heavy!

I feel ya. I'm in compression stockings now - I hate putting them on, but they totally help.

@Highwire: That stinks - I am so sorry! I started swelling around the same time and haven't stopped since. I recently posted a pic of my uber neglected and swollen feet/ankles on the Bump thread. It has been really bad the past 6 weeks or so, to the point that I constantly have pitting/pitted edema in my lower legs. The tops of my feet look like rising dough, and sometimes my feet/legs feel so tight that they might burst with each step. I am 39 weeks (today!), so I hope this will be a memory soon, but seriously, I never imagined swelling could be like this!

Well, it looks like the end of the day is the worst for me right now. This morning, the swelling went way way down and my feet look almost like their normal selves. I think I will try to keep them elevated while I sit at my desk today.

@highwire: I'd recommend compression stockings. I was going to buy some when I was pregnant, but at 35 weeks, I figured I could suck it up. I was MISERABLE. And I lived in flip flops for the last 3 months of my pregnancy and almost had to buy some with elastic tops so they could accomodate my giant feet.

I've been in flip flops the past couple of weeks but even they aren't comfortable anymore. I apologized to the others in my office that they'll just have to deal with me being barefooted some. The end of the day is definitely worse for me too.

@highwire: Mine started at 26 weeks and lasted the entire 3rd trimester. I wore reef flip flops to work. They are softer than Old Navy flip flops, so you may want to try those.
The upside is that you can blame all your weight gain on the swelling, and it goes away quickly after birth. 2 weeks after having LO I only had 5 of my 40 pounds left to lose. (I was REALLY swollen!)

Awww!! Are you trying to keep them elevated once you get home at night? I had some weeks of the that came and went during pregnancy. I hope it eases off a bit. I won't even ask if you're drinking a lot of water.

So my swelling feet issue was totally non-existent this weekend. I walked, swam, and relaxed with my feet up a ton. Today, first day back at work after the long weekend, and my feet are sausaging-out again. I tried to keep them elevated for awhile on top of a box under my desk, but it made my back start to hurt. Humph.

My feet were swollen and blood pressure was high on work days only. I spent work from home days and weekends in the recliner with my feet up and had no problems on those days.
By the end on work days I got so swollen only Crocs would fit
