I teach HS English, so I am a union worker and my job will be affected in no way at all it I don't go back early.

BUT...it's going to affect me personally either way and so I'm really not sure what to do.

I do NOT want to go back to work early. I've only been home with lo for 6 weeks now even though I've been out of work for almost 7 months with pre-term labor and my micro preemie.

Whether I go back on April 22 or May 6, I will get out the 3rd week of June for the summer so I either work 8 weeks or 6.

The reason they asked is that my sub got a full-time
Job that starts on the 22nd.

Here are the issues:
1) two weeks is an awkward amount of time for a sub job - most units take 4-6 weeks.
2) I will probably have to do the lesson plans whether I teach them or not.
3) I teach AP and the test is the second week of May. I already feel like I'm screwing these kids out of being able to pass, but having a new teacher (again) 3 weeks before the test would be really bad.
4) the transition will be much smoother from the current sub to me. Having someone else in between will make the kids crazy (behavior-wise...not the AP kids, the other kids).

So school-wise, it would make the last 6 weeks easier if I went back early.

But I don't want to sacrifice two weeks with Dylan.

I have to let my VP know tomorrow.

What do you think?
