There hasn't been very many name posts recently and I'm bored at work... so a poll!
we just found out we're expecting so things are suuuuuuuper early. but we've discussed names for years.

We are pretty set on a boy's name... Clark Thomas O (our last name).

We had a favourite girl name picked out butttt... someone pointed out it has a nickname that creates a REALLY unfortunate phrase. think... "Ben Dover" or something similar. The combo with our last name is just horrible. So now we can't choose a favourite girl's name!

I know we have tons of time... we will find out the gender and then decide on a name. But as I said... I'm bored!

Which is your favourite? And suggest more! We like short, classic first names as our last name is a four syllable Japanese name.

Maybe I'll just have sextuplets and get to use all of them! They'd be such pretty sister names I'm shocked Thea is winning, to be honest! I love it but it's probably DH's least favourite of the list. He loves Alice most (after Caroline).

Nice list! My favorite actually is Caroline! I would pick Alice second. My favorite classic girls names not on your list are Claire and Emma.

@cmomma17: I love both of these but I don't think Claire flows well with our last name. The R sound at the end and the beginning of our name... something doesn't feel good about it haha. Which sucks because I ADORE Claire, it's totally my style.
My besties little one is Emma... I really like Gemma too but prefer some others on my list!

ETA: my favourite is caroline too. we just really can't get over the combo : ( I want to post it so everyone will understand how ridiculous it is! haha.

I love Caroline the most but not if it's an unfortunate combo. So I voted Rose. Classic, feminine, easy to spell & pronounce...

my DH is japanese. so unfortunate. and i know it sounds kinda like a stretch buttttt our good friend INSTANTLY thought of it. i'm sure some smart ass in high school could put it together too. it has seriously ruined the name for us!

@cmomma17: oooo good ones. my faves are Louisa and Eliza but they're kinda close to my name (Lisa/legal name is Elizabeth). Nora was a favourite but i know THREE baby girl Noras born this year. I loooove Georgia but DH isn't a fan

@loki: Oh I would totally still go with Caroline! I would never think of that....and I consider Carrie its own name, not a nn for Caroline (unless you are planning to call her that?).

@loki: but once she's (if it's a she) born you will be known almost exclusively as mommy/mama/mom! so similar names are okay!

@lawbee11: we woudln't want her to be called carrie but i know a girl caroline and she gets exclusively called care. so i feel like care okihiro would just make it soooo obvious. it might be a bit ridiculous but it makes us so sad about the name

I don't think your first choice creates a negative connotation with your last name at all!

I vote Caroline, even after you revealed the combo, it's not something I would think of and even if it came up, it's not something obscene like Ben Dover.....

I didn't vote, because I honestly love all of the names and couldn't choose. I'm commenting just to say that even *if* it's a she and someone thinks to call her Karaoke Hero...well, personally I think that's an kicking awesome nickname

I vote Caroline since it is your favorite and I wouldn't have thought of that nickname...plus how often would she go by her nickname and last name? Especially if that isn't the nickname you'd be using.

ETA I love the name Caroline but I didn't pick it because you said it was an unfortunate combo, however when I read what the combo was I think I would still go for it! (it's really not that unfortunate, I don't think many people would say it

I love ALL of your names! I wouldn't let the potential nickname stop you. First of all, I don't think it's that bad (I was initially expecting it to rhyme with vagina or something!). Secondly, just don't call her Carrie. Lots of other nicknames for Caroline out there!
