I'm sad to see Cora so high up on the list but we don't know anyone named that. It seems to be really popular here on HB too. It seems a lot of girl names ending with -a are on there which is kinda our style.
For boys, the list looks good, I'm glad to see some good names (aka not crazy stuff) growing in popularity.

Katniss....seriously?
@T.H.O.U.: I kinda think Cora is getting popular because of Downton Abbey. Love that name! I actually suggested it but DH vetoed.

I like a lot of these, not neither DS or dd names are on here. Mine is though!

OMG - I can't believe Khaleesi is on the list!!! That's not even her NAME! That's her TITLE!!!! (Game of Thrones reference)

Almost all of our top contenders for Jacobi is on this list! But his name isn't
He was VERY close to being Emmett or Asher - both on the list! I still love both names.
My top two girls names are on the list too.

Both DS's name and our girl name for #2 are on the list, at 34 and 35, respectively.
I don't know, it doesn't bother me that my kids will have popular names? I guess because they're also family names, so we didn't choose them because they are popular. I just believe in naming your kid what you like and not worrying about how many other kids have the same name.

Booo our name is on this list, but it barely broke top 500 on SSA list for 2013 - guess not many people actually go with it in the end. At least hope that's true!

I can't believe people are naming their kids Katniss and Kahleesi!

I'm in agreement about Katniss...WUT?!
And my son was almost a Bodhi, and Archer was also at the top of my list, so I'm glad we went with Rhett. My girl name isn't on there and neither is my other boy's name.

@T.H.O.U.: Evelyn was a man's name first!
@runnerd: I suspect that is likely, actually.

When we decided on our baby names Sadie wasn't even in the top 200, and Silas wasn't even on the lists. Now Sadie is in the top 100 & Silas is in the top 10! That is so crazy.
I'm with y'all though... I can't believe there are thousands of people out there naming their daughters Katniss.
grapefruit / 4819 posts
@T.H.O.U.: it's pronounced EVE-eh-lyn though, on DA.
I love so many of these names - and of course DD2 is second on the girls list and DD1 is in the middle of the top 100 but is actually in the top ten for names actually used.
Little Miss Originality over here!

I'm not surprised to see Alice's name on the list, but I was surprised to see it so close to the top (#11). A ton of the other names we considered made this list too (Lila, Scarlett, Charlotte, Ruby, Anna, Violet).

@MrsTiger: maybe they aren't NAMING the kids these names. Isn't it top names searched on Nameberry? I only look up uncommon names.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@runnerd: yeah I think this list is a little suspect. C's name is pretty high (42) but on the ssa list it's more like 135. I have had a few moms tell me they considered it for their daughters but went with somethin else, so I guess that makes sense. I prefer the ssa list of actual popularity.
I think that holds true for the crazy names too-like a lot I people looked at Katniss and khaleesi, but hopefully not many actually use it. Dh has actually suggested a game of thrones name for our next Lo and I don't like that it's from a book/ tv show- but I do like the name (aria).

This is just the top names searched on Nameberry, and not the official SS data right?
A lot of our favorite names are on there. Archer is our top boy name!
nectarine / 2242 posts
@Corduroy: Oh that makes way more sense, I didn't actually read the article just the names!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@lawbee11: Thanks! Its hard since they mostly go by their last names on the show! Funny Evelyn didn't come up on HB on this thread: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/any-names-you-would-use-from-downton-abbey

@Foodnerd81: Aria is our daughter's name. We get aske all the time if it's from GoT, and it's not. The GoT character is spelled Arya. She gets called "Air-ee-ah" more often than the correct pronunciation though ("are-ee-ah").

@lawbee11: came here to post that.. wut. Katiniss. WHAT.
Some of these names make me scratch my head a little.. our decided girl name and boy name are on these lists though!

@Adira: a little girl at a daycare we were considering was named Khaleesi. I was shocked.

It is interesting, every name on our list is on there and many aren't high on the SSA list. I guess there is no getting around giving a name that fits firmly in their generation.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@grizz: Ahhh... that makes more sense. I didn't even read anything - just looked right at the list. I'm really hoping people aren't actually naming their kids Katniss.
papaya / 10343 posts
I like a lot of the names on the list actually! Although I'll admit I'm sort of happy that we went with Fiona (which is not on the list) and not Penelope (which is on the list and I'm seeing everywhere lately). Not that its a big deal if DD's name was popular, but I'd just prefer not.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
I was kind of surprised that Mabel was on the list. We were considering it if we had a girl, and people were.not.fans. But I know a few Mabels.
Charles was on the list, but I'm not surprised since it's a classic name.
coconut / 8681 posts
DD's name isn't on there. DS' is about halfway with a different spelling.
All of the other names in our top 5 for DD are up there though. Same for DS!
