About 2 1/2 weeks ago I started sleep training my son. I nap trained at the same time. Nightime sleep has been great. His naps have been hit or miss with regards to crying time before falling asleep. Anyone nap train and achieve a no-cry nap?

I think our LOs are the same age. I tried nap training off and on for months, but about a week and a half ago it just clicked. But she still occasionally fusses before going to sleep, but mostly talks/plays for a few minutes. I think consistency is key. I bet he will soon figure out that putting himself to sleep for naps and nighttime are the same.

I guess I kinda nap trained starting at 5 months. It was more so directing when naptime was as opposed to having P learn to self-soothe. 90 minutes after she woke I would rock, nurse, shhhhush, pat, etc for her to calmly fall asleep & since then, starting at about 7.5 months she's learned to pretty much put herself to sleep. No crying here..... If she does start fussing I do the same I've always done to help her sleep but for the most part she just talks to herself & then goes to sleep.

@Weagle: I hope it clicks for my LO too!
@runsyellowlites: do you still put her down after 90 minutes? I've been doing 2 hours...maybe I should try and cut that down...

it took a couple weeks for charlie to never cry before naps. he would cry before naps a couple times a week, but most of the time he would go down without a fuss. once he had naps all sorted out though, he was a champion napper until 1 year (when we had some regression, travel, illness, teething, etc).

@Smar11: Now she's up anywhere from 1.5 to 2.5 hours when home. Her shortest wake time is before her first morning nap. She's usually ready to go back down 90 minutes tops.
When I started with her I would take her to start naptime regardless of her showing sleepy cues. That way I knew I wouldn't "miss" them & end up with an overtired baby. It's worked really well! Now if I could only get her to sleep when we're out of the house. Lol
