My 3-year-old spiked his first ever 103 fever last night. He's had a fever before but never this high. When he woke up it was 99, then right before nap time (which was when I noticed how fatigue he looked) it spiked up to 102 and then right before bed time 103! And this is on ibuprofen all day long. I've seriously have never seen him so miserable, ever. I was afraid it was something serious or even bronchitis again. I even woke him up at 4 AM after I nursed his little brother to give him some acetaminophen and then he didn't want me to leave his room. So I slept with him until he fell asleep and then, slowly but surely, slipped away back to my bed. I was cold b/c I slept on top of his covers so I wouldn't wake him when I did sneak away. This was at 6 AM. He woke up at 8:30 AM crying b/c I had left. I think he was a little mad too. His fever broke by morning (mostly b/c he was sweating it out overnight) but it was still a low-grade one around 99-100. I took him in to see his ped and she said he has a really nasty cold that just started. Poor little guy. I'm just glad it's not bronchitis again. She said there was something like that going around these days. Even my neighbor who is a ped told me that as well and she's in a practice in a different city nearby. Yuck. I hate it when my oldest is sick. Last month he had bronchitis with wheezing for the first time. Now he hates the snot suckers and steamers. He had to use a nebulizer when he had bronchitis b/c of his wheezing. He was a trooper then. Now, he's basically saying no to everything except maybe saline spray? I think he's done with all those things. So, yeah, nasty cold you can kiss my tush! You suck b/c you're making my little guy feel like crap.
