Has anyone read this book? I just stumbled across it on Amazon, and the reviews are decent, but I'm not sure if anyone has any firsthand experience?
Any other natural birth books you would recommend (I'm delivering in a hospital, but would prefer as few interventions as possible).

I didn't read that book but did have a natural hospital birth. I read The Birth Partner and Ina May Gaskins Guide o
to Childbirth. Both were great, but I found taking a natural childbirth class to be the most helpful when I was in labor. Learning and practicing the breathing and other coping strategies with my partner were by far the best things I learned. -
My doctor recommended it but I haven't picked it up yet!
I've been reading a ton of natural birth books but I'm also planning a hospital birth and many of them are so anti-hospital they're hard for me to get through. I really enjoyed the Bradley Method books though!

@grizz: Ooh, I like that its doctor recommended! Haha - I should just go to the library at my midwives' clinic, but while they support my hospital birth, they are VERY pro-home-birth. Don't know what their books would be like.

i had a natural, unmedicated childbirth at a hospital - with both kids. i agree it felt like the best of both worlds! i didn't read any books on it, but i took some bradley classes and had a doula with my first birth.

I liked Ina May's book and Birthing from Within. The latter had a lot of stuff that I couldn't get behind (like visualizations and art therapy), but also had a ton of helpful information. Just knowing what to expect from labor and delivery in general helped. Also, having a doula was indispensable!

I liked The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin. It's for the support people there with you, so they can help/advocate, but I found it very informative for me as well.

Not to hijack this thread but I'm going to follow this. After doing some research on my husband's condition (which is still unknow but I'm pretty sure its what I'm about to mention) I came across arachnoiditis. It can be caused from something as simple as an epidural. I am now very pro natural birth & would love more info.

I attempted a natural birth in a hospital. I didn't get it - I was induced at 41 weeks due to low fluid/no movement. I felt that I was in the perfect situation for attempting it, though - midwives AND doctors who supported my desire for a natural birth, and then as few interventions as was possible. I got very lucky.

About 50% is birth stories and I REALLY enjoyed those when I was pregnant. Really gave you a glimpse that all births are different and prepared you for lots of different scenarios. Ina May's book also had lost of birth stories. And I'll also second The Birth Partner.
I had 2 natural births in the hospital. Both with a doula. My practice has Docs and Midwives. I delivered with a midwife the first time and doc the second. Just luck of the draw. Granted the Doc was only in the room for about 7 minutes and all he did was break my water and catch the baby. Mine come pretty fast

Second the mention for Ina May's Guide To Childbirth. Sure, it's from more of a home birthing background, but there are hospital stories and situations included and it's just CHOCKFUL of good information. I recommend it far over What To Expect.

I also attempted a natural birth at the hospital. 18 hours later I ended up with a C section.
I read Ina may, and husband coached childbirth.

I forgot to mention that the Birth Without Fear blog has a lot of natural hospital birth stories. Reading them has done wonders for my confidence!

I read this book. It has a lot of great suggestions and some example patient stories woven throughout. It's written by a doula. I am glad I read it, but wouldn't recommend it as the only book you read on natural birth, as I am planning to read something else to learn more.

I haven't read that one, but it looks good!
We are reading "The Birth Partner", which is great because I think it is important to be knowledgeable about all of the possibilities even if I am planning on a natural birth.
I also read "Homebirth in the Hospital", which was more of a book of many women telling their birth stories and the author was their doula who trained with Ina May Gasken.

I read it and liked it a lot. I didn't read many other books, but took Bradley classes (those were awesome). Unfortunately, I ended up with a c-section.

I read both "Birthing from Within" and Ina Mays' Guide to Childbirth - I liked Birthing from Within WAY better. I skipped over a lot of the birth art stuff and the rest was really valuable. My husband read The Birth Partner and really liked it.

I had a natural birth in a hospital attended by midwives...I only saw the OB when I needed a few stitches after my son was born.
I highly reccommend the following two books:

Birth: The Surprising History of How We Are Born by Tina Cassidy -
