When you felt the urge to nest- was it just a nice urge to clean? Or an irritable feeling that the house is a mess and _something_ needs to change?

I generally nest by wanting to make things (sewing, knitting, maybe baking), and then getting stressed out by mess. I wish it made me a happy cleaner!

Yeah my nesting instincts aren't very lovely at all.
I'm usually already OCD about the house/cleanliness... Now I see EVERY speck of dust, and either work myself too hard at 36 weeks to clean or nag DH non-stop about the state of the house lol.

My nesting is totally compulsive and I get irrationally angry at people like my DH.

Nesting for me last time wasn't so much cleaning as it was cooking/baking/organizing. I would reorganize our shelves 5x before vacuuming

Definitely irritable, and I feel like I SEE my house differently while in nesting mode / everything is so much dirtier!
The other day I was walking up our stairs, like I do 50 times a day every day, and noticed how disgusting our baseboards were on the staircase. So during LO's naptime I HAD to clean them. This morning DH dropped her off at daycare giving me a glorious 1/2 hour at home alone, and I chose to wash my kitchen cabinets.
I have 8 weeks left and can't imagine what my house is going to look like at the end of this!

I LOVE nesting! It's the one time I'm super productive around the house!! I've gotten soooooooo much stuff done - cleaned the garage, organized all the baby clothes, massive cleanings in the bedrooms and other rooms!

I just feel irritable, like there is loads to be cleaned/finished/started. Then I nag DH to do the stuff I can't and unfortunately he doesn't feel this need at all. For example, yesterday he was lovely and took me to Ikea to get the nursery chair even though he was tired from work, when we got home I was really pissed off inside that he wanted to wait till the weekend to build it (I did it myself today)!

LOL. Well...I guess that's what is going on with me. Everywhere seems messy and cluttered. The house, my office, the car. I cannot relax or rest, because everything seems to be such a mess.
Now that I know what is going on, maybe I can try to relax and process it a bit more...or at least try to calm down. LOL.

I try to keep my house clean regularly (ever seen Monica from Friends? Lol) so my nesting was filling my new freezer with freezer meals. I stocked that thing. Like HAD to.

@HolisticMama: One thing that has helped me tone it down a notch is to make a list - so every stupid insane thing I think of I add to the list. Then I just try to do one task a day and it feels more manageable and less like its strangling me!

I never had any nesting instincts kick in at all! I did make sure the house was clean, freezer meals etc - but I never felt any sort of compulsion to do so!
