I dropped my newborn the first week. I was sleep deprived and I dozed off while I was holding her on the couch. I woke up and she was asleep on the carpet...

Bumping her head on the door frame in the first few weeks

When we got her newborn photos done we tried to take one with the dog and it was supposed to be my job to grab her if she rolled off of him. I totally failed at that job! They were on the floor so it's not like she got hurt but hubs loves to give me a hard time and tell that story to EVERYONE!

@BabyBoecksMom: DH did it one time recently, but that is his parenting fail, not mine.

@autumnlove: That's one of my big fears in the beginning-- how could you NOT fall asleep?

ETA: Kids still have 30 more weeks in my belly, so no parenting fails yet

When DS was 3 months old I put him in the stroller while I was getting some stuff organized in the garage. I didn't strap him in and he wiggled his way out of the stroller and onto the floor. Luckily he only fell onto some flattened cardboard boxes and not the cement floor.

When LO first started sitting unassisted, I turned around one second to grab something and he fell backwards hitting his head on the foam mat that he was sitting on. He cried and I felt so bad!

@Bao: @MaisyMay: Maybe she cried and I didn't hear her? Luckily, our couch isn't that high up and we have carpet but I still felt awful and I bawled!

Oh my gosh, I completely forgot about this until DH JUST reminded me!

We were at a hotel and his one job was to keep the baby from falling off the bed. Major fail. She fell off the bed not once, but TWICE, while I took a 5 minute shower.

Her tongue stuck out for an entire week afterward. We joked that he broke her and "well, there goes Harvard!!!"

@Mrsbells: I am amazed still that we never did this- I came soooo close many, many times!

To the car seat ladies... yeah, been there, done that, and I still cringe about it. Now every time I put him into the carseat I do a last check in the car, give him a kiss on the head and check the belt.

We were going through his first cold a few weeks ago, I set him on the bed to snuggle, he sat up and dove off the bed and bruised the heck out of himself- eye, chin, and neck. He landed on his Christmas presents Poor little guy had a fever, stuffy nose, and a bad mom to put up with. I felt so guilty, I didn't have a hand on him...I was reading HelloBee on my phone. Wha-wha-wha.

I dropped DS when he was 12 days old. I fell asleep with him on my chest and he rolled down my arm and onto the floor. Luckily, I was sleeping on a low bed (mattress & boxspring but no frame) and he didn't have far to go. It was 2 days after DH left to go back to Afghanistan and I was just SOOOO tired. I thought I was going to cry my eyes out!

@littlek: I did this yesterday, well I strapped her in but I didn't tighten it, so really it wouldn't have done any good...I started to cry.

During her sink bath this past weekend, my husband thought I had her (even though I said, I'm getting the camera ready, you watch her) and I thought he had her. I went to take a picture and all I saw was her going face-first into the water. I threw my phone (camera of choice) and grabbed her - he had looked away, distracted by a dog. She was fine, I got her about a second after her face hit the water.

She also face-planted into the water during a tub bath with me the week before. She sits well now and likes to reach for things....this leads to face-planting if on the floor and a face full of water if in the tub.

*Disclaimer, neither of us were ever "away" from the sink, we just didn't have our hands on her at the time.

@MaisyMay: My DH did that too! I was watching him once and it was only pee and he closed the wipe container. I told him he needs to wipe her even if it's pee. I caught it before a rash occurred.

I've clipped her finger while cutting her nails, accidentally sprayed saline mist in her eye when she moved suddenly, accidentally gotten her throw up in her eye while picking her up, have realized the car seat wasn't clicked in, and once I fell asleep nursing and she rolled off the boppy but luckily we were on the bed.
