I want to get one or two new things for M for our car ride next week. What are some items that might interest a 4 1/2 month old?
Is Sophie an okay choice for a car toy or is it too hard/unsafe for her to hold while she's in the car? (I can't believe I'm considering Sophie...)

The big Sophie is actually soft and squishy....the squeaking might drive you crazy on a long ride!

This might be too simple, but my 4 mo loves this. It's the perfect size for them to flip on their own too!

Sophie, and anything with texture/tags would be nice. Nothing that can hurt if it hits her in the face when you stop suddenly (or when she hits herself in the face with it at babies tend to do).

Sophie is great and at 4 months my LO couldn't really squeek it so it shouldn't make too much noise.

We also have the Lamaze Peacock, but I think the Firefly was easier to hold at that age. We got it as gift while we were on a road trip and I remember she played with it on the ride home. We just heard "crinkle crinkle crinkle" the whole trip. It was really cute.

My LO is really getting into this teething blanket - it crinkles when it moves but it's not annoying. He hasn't really started using it for teething purposes yet but does like cuddling with it and looking at the different colors. It has a link that you can attach to the car seat. It's the perfect size for a younger baby, too.

Prettybaby is a huge fan of Sophie, she is super soft and easy to play with. For our first long car ride at that age, I bought a smooshy spiral toy bar thingy that she still loves. We move it from her infant seat to the bar on our stroller, its always a hit. It's similar to this.

Its great because it adjusts, so it fits stollers too (ive attached it to both my snugride and my uppababy vista) and you can move it so its closer to baby (its hard to describe, but where it attaches it has little hinges so you can move it down toward babys face as they're sitting in the carseat).
Its been a life saver on long car rides and flights!!

We had this toy that giggles by infantino that LO just loved in the car. The laugh sounds like a real baby giggle. (It always made me smile but it might also drive you crazy).
