My oldest 2 got a cold and now my newborn has it I think. It's not bad. She just sounds stuffy and will cough occasionally. I've never had a baby this young get sick. Do I need to let her doctor know or just watch and treat at home? Best ways to treat this? I don't want this to escalate and get worse

@cyoung: I would keep a VERY close eye on her. Make sure she is eating normally, has no fever, can breathe fine. Newborns do not have an immune system to speak of, even with breastfeeding, so it’s important to watch her just in case.

E got her first cold at around 5-6 weeks and I took her to the doctor when it was affecting her eating and thus diaper output to make sure she wasn't getting dehydrated. I was told to use some sort of snot sucker as much as I could, particularly before eating, along with saline spray and to take hot steamy showers with her to help loosen mucus and open up her airways. Keep an eye on how she sounds and how eating is going.

So far she is eating good and is active and has plenty of diapers but I will keep an eye out! Thank you ladies
