We did night and day potty training at the same time but ultimately for night C didn't wear underwear or any jammies in the beginning. We limited fluid intake about an hour to 1-1/2 hours before bed. Then we'd make sure to take him to the potty before bed, whether he went or not. Then we set alarms to wake up in the middle of the night (he went to bed between 7:30 and 8pm so we started with 10pm and 2am) and would wake him to try to get him to potty. When I say wake him this sometimes meant he was still mostly asleep and we literally held him up on his little potty (which we put in his room so it was close) and would read a book he liked that seemed to help him relax during the day to potty. Sometimes he peed his bed before the alarms but we'd adjust our alarms to fit what his pee schedule seemed to be (move up the next alarm by an hour to 30 minutes, etc.). Yes, it meant less sleep for you but after a few weeks he would gain more and more bladder control and would either refuse to pee when we woke him up and/or would wake on his own and call out to us that he needed to pee. After about 2 months he'd go the whole night or would wake and hold it until we got him to the potty.
