If you opted for NIPT, how long did it take for you to get results?
I go in next Friday, and realized this morning that my doctor is out the following week. I'm wondering if that will delay results, or if I wouldn't have them by then anyway.
Thanks!

I had MaterniT21 done, and they had to send out the blood samples to the company's lab, so it didn't matter if my doc was gone or not. All said, it took about 10 days for my results. Also, I had to go to my hospital's genetics center for the test, not my doctor's office.

I think mine was 10 days, and from what I hear that is pretty standard.

I think it depends on how you do the test and who with. My first pregnancy they had me do it through maternal fetal medicine and the geneticist contacted me with results. This pregnancy I was able to go to my OB's office and they had a kit there for it, then their office called me with the results I think 6 days later.

Mine will be done at my OB's office. I'm not sure if they do it in house or send it out though.
I realized that when we moved the testing (it was going to be done last week, but we moved it based on my dating ultrasound) that he said it was best to wait until the end of week 10 because "nothing's worse than waiting 5 days to find out that there weren't enough fetal cells in the sample"
I didn't know if that meant results were usually back in 5 days, or if that's how long it would take them to notify him of a bad sample.

I think my results were in 8 days later. They do the bloodwork in my OBs office and send it out. My OB didn't call, one of the nurses did.

8 days. I did the blood draw on a Thursday and my nurse called me the following Friday. I do think the doctor needs to look over the results before the nurse can call you, so maybe ask if another doctor in the practice can do the review if the results come back while your doctor is out?

@MaryM: mine was about ten business days I think. And my ob has some kind of coordinator person who called me with the results once the office got them. Then we talked about it with the ob at my next appointment that week. I did the test at a local hospital.
So it depends on how your office has it set up but you may be able to get the results from someone else in the office even if your doc is out.

Did the bloodwork on a Tuesday morning so it got processed/sent out that day. Then got a call the following Tuesday late in the afternoon (right before the doc's office closed) from a nurse.

10 days. I did it through the genetics counseling office. My counselor was out that week but her coworker called me with the results.

For both LO1 and LO2, it took exactly 7 days. I can't remember with my oldest, but I know with LO2, I did the blood draw Wednesday morning and got the results the next Wednesday afternoon.

@Truth Bombs: @MamaCate: he's the only doctor in the practice, so I can't imagine someone else looking them over

Gave blood on Wed and got a call the following Friday. So 9 days.

@MaryM: I remember because we had insurance issue that another doctor (not in the practice) interpreted the results and sent the report to my doc. So I would just ask them what their process is and when you can expect results.

I think it was 10 days for mine. That included 2 weekends, one of which was a holiday weekend.

I had them done on a Thursday and hounded them the following week starting on Wednesday - I got my results Friday afternoon.
