Yeah, I agree that you have to be clear on the invitation - if I got an invitation to a jump house for my older son, I'd probably assume baby brother was invited as well.

Is there the ability for parents to pay for other kids to jump?

Be very clear about no siblings. We have a couple families in DD's preschool class that always assume it's okay to bring their older siblings. And these older siblings seem to end up taking favors as well, causing kids that were ACTUALLY invited to the party to go home empty handed. Not okay in my book. An 8 year old at a 5 year old's bday party shouldn't be taking a favor.

Personally I would never assume a sibling is invited to a classmate's party but I agree it's a good idea to specifically state that. Recently I didn't take LO2 to a party for LO1's friend but several kids had their siblings and the mom thought I was bringing both kids. I hadn't even considered it but clearly I was in the minority.

Your BFF'S wording suggestion is perfect - if you want you can express regret that you can't include siblings, but don't need to. DD1 received an invitation like that this summer and it was a relief to me not to have to ask or guess whether DD2 was invited or expected to be there. I'd assumed no, since the host child doesn't have younger siblings.

Personally I was glad not to have to supervise TWO preschoolers or try to drag DH along to help me out! No hard feelings whatsoever. The only Time that I would maybe ASSUME (not expect - I'd still double check!) siblings to be invited is if the party is non-drop off, on a weekday, during daytime hours when typically only one parent would be available and a sitter would have to be hired watch the child he wasn't invited.
