With my baby's birthday coming up in a few months (April) I'm exploring the idea of having a healthier sugar free cake. She loves fruits so I was wondering if any of you have any pictures or ideas for a fruit type cake.
I saw this watermelon "cake" but I'm not crazy about watermelon

Somebody on HB mentioned a mashed potato cake at some point, I think...or maybe that was a friend at lunch the other day? My mind is fuzzy all of a sudden but you might google it.
Or there have been some healthy cake recipes on the blog!

My mom always tells me my first birthday cake was made of vegetables. No offense but I was like WTH. I LOVE CAKE. Haha. Anyway I don't have the recipe

I've seen pretty cakes like what you're thinking, I think just using a melon baller to put the pretty balls of fruit on top. My LO LOVES watermelon

Is it for a party or just for family? If you're doing a party I would do a trifle like you posted or maybe fruit and pound cake kabobs. You can still feed LO the fruit but I'd be wanting some cake!
I made these when I needed a quick dessert for a party and they were a huge hit. I did one with white choc drizzle and one with milk chocolate. I also used pineapple so there wasn't a ton of pound cake on each skewer, maybe 2 pieces.

@JerricaBenton: I'm still undecided if we will have a party or not. I think not. But thanks for sharing that photo and recipe I will keep these in mind for another time, maybe even valentines day
