Ladies who have done non-invasive prenatal testing such as Harmony, MaterniT21, Panorama or Verifi, I have a few questions for you.
1) Which test did you have done?
2) How much did you pay for this test?
3) How much did your insurance pay for the test?
4) Why did you pick the test you had (over one of the other options)?

I did the MaterniT21 test. I can't answer the other questions because I haven't seen if insurance has covered the test or not.

I think $250. I remember hearing that's the co-pay you'd have to pay if insurance didn't cover it.

I did the materniT21 test when it first came out. We paid $250 out of pocket, I think. . The cost to insurance was over $1,000 I believe. It's been awhile, but I remember the billing being screwy.

I did the MaterniT21 test. I JUST got the bill a couple weeks go and I had it done last May! Insurance didn't cover it (said it was "experimental") but I only had to pay $250.

My answer is probably going to scare a few people. I ended up having Panorama and Harmony done due to a miscommunication in my Dr's office. So I can answer this twice.
1) Panorama
2) $4930.20
3) Insurance was billed for $5478.00 and discounted by 10%, to the amount I paid. While I am AMA, I have a high deductible health plan so essentially this was all a deductible item for me.
4) This is the test my doctor's office completes.

3) Insurance was billed $795.08, the discount was $0.08! Again I'm on a high deductible plan so this test all came at my expense as part of my deductible.
4) I had been referred to MFM for my anatomy scan and genetic counseling. My doctors office errored in telling me the Panorama test had failed so MFM ordered Harmony as a result. Unfortunately, about 3 business days later my doctor returned from vacation with results from the Panorama.
What I don't understand is essentially all four of these test are the same, just named differently based upon the lab. How can the price difference be so large between what Panorama and Harmony bill. It sounds like MaterniT21 might be even cheaper yet. Amazing!

I live in Ontario and the panorama was considered elective so we had to pay everything out of pocket, insurance wouldn't pay anything.
The total was $800, not sure why yours was so much @mamag?

@Mirage: That is very interesting! I'm tempted to call them and argue the cost. I get it's a specialized blood test. But it's blood, not a kidney transplant!

I had the Maternit21 test done. We wanted to limit ultrasounds and this felt like I good way to get some reassurance without extra scans. Plus we had a very tiny family history- small enough though that insurance would not cover the test. ETA- This was the only one of these tests my office had the "kit" for, plus I knew our likelihood of insurance coverage was low and I had read about Maternit21 lowering the out of pocket cost for those without coverage.
I have only received a letter from my insurance explaining they will not be paying for it. I am still waiting on a bill, I had the test done at ten weeks and am now almost 26 so they certainly aren't speedy with the billing process.
@MamaG: I believe Maternit21 is a few thousand but for some reason they seem to have decided to offer a reduced copay for people who don't have insurance coverage for it yet. I am really hoping this is true because a $250 bill would be way better than a few thousand! I will try to remember to update when I do get a bill from them.

I had the MaterniT21 testing done. I had no risk factors (2nd healthy low risk pregnancy under 35) They didn't ask if I wante it done, it was just included with all the other testing. My insurance paid for the whole thing.

@Cole: Interesting on the reduced copay. I just called Natera (the company for Panorama) and the conversation was interesting to say the least.
Now I'm just blown away and totally confused by healthcare (and I generally consider myself knowledgeable as I'm heavily involved in our company's healthcare plan).

@MamaG: I had the Verifi test on Tuesday. The counselor told us it's $1500, but most people only pay about $200 after insurance. We won't know if we were covered for a while. But, it was worth it to us either way. Are you over 35?

@MamaG: Oh, and we picked it because it's far more accurate than other blood tests, such as the quad screen... Plus there's the added bonus of finding out the gender early!

I had the MaterniT21 test done - I had told them I wanted the cell-free DNA test, and I guess that's the one they must normally go with - they didn't ask me which one I wanted.
I got an explanation of benefits where it said it cost $2000-something with $0 covered by insurance. I wasn't happy, but I waited to see what would happen. And waited and waited, and a while later, I got another explanation of benefits for the same test, saying insurance would cover all but $300 something, which is much better. However, I still haven't received an actual bill yet, and I'm 32 weeks along (had the test at 10 weeks). Guess I'll just keep waiting...

@MamaG: MaterniT21, cost $2700, but we are lucky with DH's job to have amazing coverage, so we only paid $400 out of pocket. We did it "voluntarily," (had a family history of an abnormality so opted for the test to be safe) but found out at our anatomy scan that we have a complication that could have had us scrambling to do that test now if we hadn't already. Some of the best money I've ever spent for the piece of mind it's giving me today.
ETA: had test at 10 weeks, bill came @ 20 weeks.

I thought I would update this for anyone who might be interested. I just got my bill today for Maternit21, my insurance rejected the claim and they sent me a bill for $140. The bill shows the test price as $2400. I had the test done at 10 weeks and my baby is almost 8 months old.
Her sex was correctly identified too

3) How much did your insurance pay for the test? ZERO, though the ultrasound component was refunded via Medicare.
4) Why did you pick the test you had (over one of the other options)? Was recommended by my OB as the alternative to NT testing and I wasn't offered a different brand test.

Thought I would share that I did the Maternit21 test today, mostly because I was told that the maximum out of pocket they will bill anyone for was $160, regardless of insurance coverage, and that was recently negotiated down from $250. The test itself cost $2800. Obviously, I haven't received a bill yet, but I was shown some paperwork and assured that if I was billed for anything more than that, the office would take care of it. We shall see! I'll have results in 8-10 days. That test was recommended to me over all the others because I had a miscarriage due to Trisomy 21, and Maternit21 has the highest detection rate of chromosomal abnormalities.

4) Why did you pick the test you had (over one of the other options)? My doctor's office only offered this test and had a contract with the lab making it this affordable despite the fact that I was not AMA and had no risk factors.

I did the harmony test and paid nothing. My ob office has a contract or something with them--basically they want the test to be widely used so they won't collect more than $25 even if insurance bills it as way more.

I'm in Canada if it makes a difference. I had the Panorama done. I did not have to pay anything because I had a high risk screen after the 12 week uktrasound and bloodwork. Otherwise it is 800$ here out of pocket. We found out our little girl had Turners Syndrome (later confirmed by amnio). I will not have to pay in any of my other pregnancies as I already have one confirmed chromosomal disorder.
