Okay. My allergies (or this cold...whatever it is) are killing me. What do you take that works? Sudafed does the trick but I stopped taking it when preg and know it will be detrimental to my supply.

@bisous: None. But the neti pot has been a lifesaver! I use it twice a day.

@lawbee11: I am going to have to try that! I haven't before but I am definitely willing to do anything that works at this point!
@LovelyPlum: That is the one thing I do take right now! It's not doing much for me.

None for the most part unless it gets really bad. Then I pop an Allegra. But I don't take it for consecutive days. Just once here and there to relieve the symptoms for 24 hours.

@bisous: Claritin. It's the safest for bf. I've taken it daily and while pregnant. Regular, Not the d kind.

@ALittleP: hi friend!
@bisous: i took Flonase while BF bc it doesn't dry you out as much

I took mucinex d very sparingly (1/2 dose 1x/day) and I had no supply issues. I also made sure to keep eating lots of calories and drinking a ton.

I didn't take anything - too anxious about losing my supply. Neti pot helped!

I've been wondering the same thing, but I really should just use the neti pot. I just never feel like doing it.

None. I've had a couple bad colds this winter and tried to drink alot of hot tea mostly.
I've used a neti pot in the past though, and I think it worked well!

@singingbee: it's been awhile since I tried Claritin, but it's good to know it's safe. Maybe I will try it.
I soooo wish I could have a dose of NyQuil right now! I love nursing but I definitely look forward to being able to medicate when sick when I am done!

@catlady: Me too on the tea! It's soothing but so temporary!
I am going to get a neti pot now. Think CVS would have one?
grapefruit / 4988 posts
@bisous: I think CVS does have neti pots. I've seen them at whole foods too, I think.

I'm paranoid about a supply drop and also taking medications. I just put raw local honey in my mothers milk tea every day.

I switched from Zyrtec to Claritin when pregnant because I was told that Zyrtec is not especially safe for breastfeeding.

@bisous: cvs has a neti pot and a squeeze bottle sinus rinse that does the same thing. That's what I got- it's just a little easier for me to squeeze than pour.

I hope that you can get some relief soon. It's a bad year for allergies!

@catlady: Got my neti pot! I have delayed getting one for so long because I was afraid to use it. Lol, now that I have done it, I am not sure why!
@Foodnerd81: I got the actual pot, but I know what you mean because the sinus rinse thing was in my instructions (I guess bc they are similar products?)!
@sarahbs: I never knew that about Zyrtec. My doc said it was okay to keep taking but I am definitely looking into it now!

@bisous: I love the neti pot! It works extra well if you use it in the shower after being in the steam for a couple of minutes
