I think DH and I should have a few date nights before bebe #2 comes. I can't think of a restaurant that I want to go to in the city. Help??

It's pricey, but DH and I went to one if by Land for Christmas this year. It was by far the most romantic restaurant setting and the food was delicious. Total coincidence - the live piano player was playing our wedding song when we walked in.

Alta, is awesome for tapas. I also like Telepan for a cozy ambiance and ahhhmazing food.

@chopsuey119: thanks!
@mrbee: ooh my friend went there and said it was really good. Oh yeah, I should mention that I have dietary restrictions right now so there is that!
@Tidybee: awww, that's so sweet!

@hilsy85: Telepan is great! I used to go there all the time when we lived on the UWS.

One of my fave places when i lived in nyc was crispo. They have a cute garden in the back that i live! And the food is good and wont break the bank! Have fun!!!

No budget and no kids? FUN!
Eleven Madison Park and Asiate have yet to disappoint. Never had bad meals there. Per Se too! If you don't want to sit for hours in their main dining room, I believe you can still order a la carte at the salon. I also really enjoyed Dovetail. If you like Telepan, you'll like those I think.
Haven't tried ABC Kitchen, but have heard nothing but good things!
Enjoy your time before #2

@NYCaliMama: yeah, been checking Eleven Madison Park but it's so hard to get into. I am not a Per Se fan, don't shoot me! I was wondering about ABC Kitchen so I might check that out. Thanks!

@Andrea: haha, I sort of agree on Per Se. I went once and wasn't wow'ed, but I thought it was good so I do recommend it especially if one has no budget and has never been! But sounds like you guys have eaten a lot around the city... tough. If you're like me, it's hard to find a *really* standout place in NYC after a while! sometimes DH and I were just happy going to Grays Papaya, Levain for cookies, and then a movie

@NYCaliMama: yeah, that's the thing - it's hard to be wowed once you've eaten around a lot. We've taken a lot of trips to France so I think that is why Per Se was just so-so. I just really wanna eat sushi but can't!!
Oh has anybody been to Hakkasan? We really loved the one in London but not sure if the New York is really any good.

I love Gramercy Tavern. Not exactly new/trendy, but so beautiful and the food is consistently amazing.

date night, how fun!
@meredithNYC: love gramercy tavern! plus you can sit in the front section if you want a little more of a casual affair.
@travelingbrit: we used to love to go to the bar at babbo, although we had to get there really early and/or on a weeknight.
i really like the food at a voce and bar boulud.

@Andrea: I've been to hakkasan. We loved the one in London and were excited to try the one in NYC so we went for dim sum one morning. The dim sum was pretty good with high quality ingredients but so so expensive, of course. Not worth it in my opinion. Where did u end up going?

@JessLC: Thanks for the review! We haven't gone anywhere yet ... will probably wait until next month when my MIL is in town to baby sit.

It's not fancy, but my absolute favorite is Pylos in the East Village (7th and Ave A). With Big Gay Ice Cream or Butter Lane cupcakes across the street for dessert!
For more upscale, we just did Scarpetta in the Meatpacking district and it was amazing.
